    TF999/D300 shifting twin sticks ?

Haven't wheeled a whole lot with this setup but am always confused about how to shift in/out of 4WD. I try everything and eventually get it right (after grinding the transm.). Transm. in gear or N, stopped or moving? After towing, taking transfer case out of N/N? By the time I eventually get it right I've forgotten how I did it. Thanks

You will likely get a dozen different answers to your question(s). My recommendations for your Jeep's setup are as follows:

When shifting transfer case: vehicle rolling at approximately 2-3 mph; transmission in neutral

When flat towing: transmission in park; transfer case in neutral

I've got the towing thing down I think. Transm in P, TC in N/N and key on one click of course. My issue is with shifting into and out of 4WD.

I always have difficulty shifting my CJ7's D300 as well. The trick seems to be making a fast and firm shift while the Jeep is rolling. I have found that being slow and gentle only grinds gears.

Yeah I got that down. It's the problem between what gear the transm. has to be in when shifting the TC into or out of 4WD. There's only one way it works well without grinding the transmission.

yep. When it was new it was super hard to shift and really only worked while rolling. Now that its worn in and a little sloppy, it shifts fine no matter where im at.
