    Door lock rod end clip

I couldn't unlock the tail gate this morning - the key easily turned back and forth, with no sound of the mechanism moving. I had to remove the cover plate on the inside of the tail gate to access the mechanism and manually move the lever to the "unlock" position in order to open the tailgate. I discovered the plastic clip holding the rod that connects the key cylinder to the latch mechanism on the tailgate broke, and the rod was dangling loose. Dang plastic piece, but it lasted 20 years so I can't complain too much. Good thing it happened to me in the driveway and not to the wife at the grocery store or I would be in deep doo-doo.

So does anyone know where I can get a couple of replacement clips? I'd rather not leave the tailgate unlocked for an extended period of time.

On the older ones they do not list them in the catalogs. But there are three main ones by color. but they seem to interchange a lot of times. there is a specific left and right on some applications. you can google search part # 4658675 for green $ 2.59 each, 4658676 for white $ 3.98 each, 4658677 black $ 8.51. I don't know why they are priced differently. I stock all of them and am assuming any dealer close to you should.

Thanks for this info, it really helped as online I saw a lot of different colored ones for different applications, but none for the Wrangler tailgate. The lock rod had one grey (the broken one) and one purple, then the latch rod had a black one one each end, which was adding to my confusion as to which one I needed.

As it turned out, the Dorman HELP! pack from the local auto parts store had a black one that worked.

Thanks to everyone for the help!
