    Dana 30 Truss

I ripped my upper control arm mount almost completely off.

Would it be worth the money to get a truss with an integrated upper control arm mount so it won't rip off again, and strengthen the tubes at the same time? Or would it be better to just weld it back on and hope it holds?

My general approach is this: I take any excuse for an upgrade and go for it.

If you plan on keeping that axle as opposed to putting in tons etc at some point, I'd go the truss route. The benefits are numerous. I had a shop modify an Artec TJ truss to fit my YJ's D30. Of course, I don't have any of this control arm nonsense to worry about . Also, worth it to gusset the Cs while you're at it IMHO...

    Re: Dana 30 Truss

Truss is good as the D30 is known to flex, which can make air lockers leak.

That said you are putting lipstick on a pig.

I have my D30 trussed as I have no plans of going bigger than 35s on my TJ. I know what I have and its weaknesses. Not perfect, but it works.

Yeah, I don't plan on going bigger than 35's. I would only go to a 44 if it were super cheap or I had money to burn.

I plan on keeping it unless there is a really cheap 44 someday down the road but I don't plan on going bigger than 35's.

    Re: Dana 30 Truss

I say truss it. Id also buy the Artec lower control arm mounts as those get ripped off easily. The Artec ones are much beefier and are welded on 3 sides.

I have some homemade "skids" welded on there at the moment but I did the welding so who knows how long that will last! haha

I think I will go with the Artec XJ3003 kit with Johnny Joints. Its about $260 online, but looking at local shops if they have a similar price.

Artec brackets are way thicker and stronger. The skids you did are helpful, but still not as strong as the atrec ones. I routinely use them as the jacking point for my front end.

Me too. Its 1/4" plate. The only weakness is that it's just welded to the bracket and not the tube.

You have 1/4 welded to thin factory metal. The artec are fully boxed 1/4. I have knocked stock ones off. The artec are worth the $$
