there is always this map but most of it is normal shooting areas that are trashed. Again, all closed due to fire restrictions

Oh yeah - forgot about Caswells. Have been there to shoot before.

Also, I got my CCW at Snottsdale Gun Club, forgot about that too somehow.

Try not to skimp on price/value/training when placing a firearm in your child's hands. Not only can it be dangerous, it can cause them to lose interest if it doesn't shoot well.

the cricket comes highly recommended. Its inexpensive because its very simple. Single Action, single shot, no mag, etc. my oldest is 8, so figure its a great place to start.

True. My first experience shooting a handgun was my dad's old .38 and even older .45 revolvers. After a few weeks of target shooting and only occasionally even hitting the target, I relegated myself to only shooting rifles thinking I couldn't hit the broadside of a barn...from the inside with a pistol. Years later I shot my brothers 357 mag and did surprisingly well. After that I realized those old guns were the problem, not me.

IIRC doesn't ben avery have a small caliber range? like for 22's only?

I bought the cricket at 4yrs old... pink...and a red dot lol... and it is good, but if they're already 8... I'd opt for something mag/tube fed, even if it's still a bolt action/lever/pump. The cricket being a single load bolt action will get old with them super quick. Manual action like that you can have them use 22 quiets and no worries about it cycling.

    in my opinion of course...

My son is 8, and only shows a passing interest, My daughters are 6, 4, and 2. and the 6 and 4 year old show a lot more interest (they are also my buddies when I go off road, my son doesn't have much interest in it.)
