    42RLE Transmission Won't Drive

    Hello,

    2007 JKU
    101,000 Miles
    Automatic

I was driving to work when I hit a bump and I lost all my gears (might be coincidence). When pressing on the gas the RPM's only revs, but doesn't move. I coasted the jeep to a parking lot. I can shift through all the gears (P,N,R,D,2,1) and nothing happens. The gear indicator on the dash shows all the gears I can cycle through, but won't move.

I put the transfcase in 4hi and 4lo. It felt like the jeep wanted to move, but nothing happened. I can hear this whining noise coming from the transmission when I put it into gears.

Fluid is full and doesn't smell burnt. The shifter link is still attached and moves front to back when cycling through gears. I can put the jeep in neutral and push it. The transmission never gave me any issues. I really hope it's something simple-ish and not a transmission rebuild.

If I can't diagnose can anyone recommend a Transmission Shop?

Have you checked for codes? Even without check engine light you can still have codes

Size: 411.0 KB my transmission started malfunctioning. Thinking the transmission was bad, I bought a replacement. After installing I got all kinds of codes. Because several thought that I may have pinched the hardest between the bellhousing in the block, I removed to inspect.
When I peeled back the covering the plug driver side, I saw that the insulation on a portion of wires at all just turn to dust. No evidence of shorting but I'm thinking it may have been the cause of transmission malfunction.

you should still have codes/ check engine light if there is a problem with the trans or wiring, it may show up as a different icon on the dash or overdrive button/ light. Most likely the trans pump let go, there is some plastic parts in there that break.

I’m afraid of that. I was perfect then from one moment to the next it stopped working. Just seemed really weird
