Jump over to Montana and hit Tetons and Yellowstone. If you have the time take a drive through Glacier. Beautiful country.

Thanks. Plan to hit those areas on the way back, but not so much exploring off road, Idaho has tons of areas which aren't NP strict....looking to narrow them down.

One area I haven't been is around Mackay, the SXS have a big annual run up there, roads for miles, no pavement, from there, continue up 93. Was actually thinking of skipping the western side as that's where I was based earlier (Boise), not as familiar as the middle/east at least off the roads.

    Re: Who knows Idaho ?

ive only ever stuck to the main highways in southern ID but id probably roll North from twin falls up the 93. That keeps you close to the NF to explore. The bitterroot and sawtooth arent far away from you at that point.

Edit, the Lolo national forest used to have fantastic elk hunting before the wolves. Might be worth a few drives around there to check it out. I hear that the elk hunting is bouncing back since we stopped going.

Stay on US93, then take ID75 to Stanley. Take a left on ID21. You'll be at the Sawtooth Range. Awesome country. Try to make it to the Seafoam Mine:

You could spend upwards of a week or more exploring the dirt around Stanley and over to Challis and not even touch it all. I got stopped by snow trying to get to that mine, but did see a wolf on the way. I found the picture thread for that trip I took:

Done some trails around Salmon ID. A road goes from Salmon over the Bitterroot into Montana.
