    Bass fishing at Alamo Lake?

Anyone planning on pulling them off the beds during the spawn at Alamo lake will need to make other plans. They are doing a rapid release of water into the Bill Williams river. Going to lower the lake 10 feet vertically. That will wipe out the beds, eggs, etc. You can also expect muddy shore line and possibly only one boat ramp open.

Not to mention no fish for several years.

they started a draw down of lake, it will foul up the spawn terribly this year. expect lake to fall at least 8- 10 feet with planned draw downs for next few months. locals and azgf tried to stop it, but the down stream folks won, or at least some dingleberry group did, trying to rework the down stream flaura

corp of engineers is in charge of this one.

The corp of engineers want to inspect something in the inlet, or outlet, depending on what source you want to believe. From what I read the AZGF was for it. but they were against the timing, I don't remember. It just goes to show you that when they put out a comment period and nearly everyone voices against the proposal, it doesn't matter. They move ahead any way.

Here it is, in a nutshell.

A federal court on Friday denied the state of Arizonaís motion for a temporary restraining order to prevent a high-flow water release at Alamo Lake in western Arizona beginning this week. The Arizona Game and Fish Department voted in February to pursue blocking the water release.

The agency tried to stop the release because it feared it could disrupt fish reproduction. David Weedman is the aquatic habitat program manager for Game and Fish.

"It may have an impact or it may not," Weedman said. "It really depends on how the fish are able to respond to the drawdown this year."

Weedman said the agency does not oppose the project, just the timing of it.

"They need to do maintenance on the dam," Weedman said. "It's been 27 years since they've inspected the outlet works for the dam."

The project, being run by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is expected to drop the lake level by 10 feet.
I think it was done at this time to protect the yellow billed dukeybird, and the mexican garter snake. I don't remember exactly, but I'm close.

This is a good article on it.

by next drawdown, believe its in a few weeks, all launch ramps will be useless, will have to find a shore spot to launch, have 4wd, as this time of year, the word is out, and won't be a whole lotta folks around to help out.
    just saying.
flew out there yesterday and its ugly, shame, as they really screwed up the spawn this year, some fish were already on their beds, i was surprised the azgf, got involved they rarely give a hoot about the warm water fishery at all.

another awesome lake gone to hell in a hand basket, they took horseshoe outta the mix. over a dang bird. go figure.
