    Jeeping and kayaking

Any other kayakers out there? I've had a canoe for years but got sick of loading/unloading it so we got some nice inflatable kayaks that fit inside the Jeep. We took them out once so far and had a good time on the northwest end of Lake Pleasant. I want to take them out again this weekend, Sunday or Monday. Anyone else want to go? My plan is to take the old Jeep trail on the northeast end of the lake by the eagle nests. It's open until mid December. I haven't been on the trail in years but I used to take my Samurai back there and it was a great time. I even hauled my canoe out there once. I'd call the trail moderate since it's narrow and has a few hill climbs. I'm confident that I can get back there with my stock two door JK with 33's.

Here is the boat launch location:

You can't go in from Table Mesa/17 anymore so you have to take the Crown King road to Cow Creek Rd and head east to the trail. The lake is kind of low so access across the top of the lake won't be an issue. I'd like to paddle up and around the cliffs and see how far north the lake goes. I believe it's a no wake zone so it shouldn't be too busy.

Meeting time would be around 10am at the air down spot. Plan on being out all day. Bring food and plenty of water, and don't forget the sunscreen!

I have a couple stand up paddle boards and would be interested but won't be able to do it until the 10th.

I might be up for doing it again. I'll let you know how the trail looks.

Made it back. Was a great day. We had the peninsula to ourselves. Trail was in decent shape but there were no other tire tracks on it. Nobody had been out there in a while.

Where the trail ends is well before the no wake zone so I'm not sure how fun a paddle board would be. We had to deal with boat wakes for a while until we made it to the smooth water.

This was the worst spot on the trail. Just a steep down and up. Of course the pic doesn't do it justice.

We met a cute burro on the way out with a floppy ear.

There was a lot of brush and low hanging trees along the way. If you're worried about pinstripes I wouldn't recommend it.

I recently got an inflatable kayak off Amazon pretty cheap. First time into kayaking, so figured I would go cheap to get started. So far been pretty happy with it on the few trips I've taken it out. Even made a fishing setup for it.
