    Camping near Page, AZ

    Hey all,

I have been doing some research online and am surprised to not find as many camping sites near Page as expected. I was hoping to do some camping near the area for memorial day weekend, but with the limited sites I bet it's going to be challenging finding sites available.

Can anyone recommend some areas/sites where a couple can pitch a tent and call it a day? Nearby trails would definitely be a plus

Probably not what you're looking for, but I suggest the Page Lake Powell Campground. They have tent sites. They also have showers, laundry, etc.

Depends on how remote you want to be, or how close to the lake or services you're thinking.

For remote, few places in the west are cooler than Alstrom Point.

If you're self sufficient but want to stay near the water then Crosby Canyon might be the thing.

If Kamp On Asphalt is your thing then you'll probably have lots of company and resources elsewhere on the interwebs.

It's actually pretty endless for dispersed camping north of town. You can head east at Big Water, or just take any side road after big water from the 89.

You're not going to find actual "sites" with amenities though if that's what you're looking for.

South and East of Page and of the Lake is all Navajo reservation, don't know how they deal with recreational use now. Might check their website/call

Put this in google maps. 36.888826, -111.487935

South of hwy 98 there is a lot of trails. Mostly whooped out but still kind of cool to use. One of them goes around south of a large mesa then works its way up on top. Once on top you can circle it with numerous places to descend.

There is also some trails on the east side of town. Here: 36.902470, -111.444454

I can't remember how we accessed those. I think it was off coppermine road north of 98.

^ Appears to all be on the Res. Remember that reservations are independent nations; their own laws, own enforcement. You do not have the rights and protection that you are used to in the city, country, state jurisdictions.

The trails I noted are not on the res. Whiplash used them for a race course, and now AZOP is racing them. (why I said they are mostly whooped out)

I apologize for not finding a better map, but look at Page and the intersection of 89 and 98. The non tribal land around Page is huge. You have to go almost to the power plant on 98 before you're on the res. Same thing going south on 89.

But I do agree that you should be very careful on the res! It certainly is a different nation.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I will check these places out. I should've mentioned in my first post I was looking for a place with a few amenities but I probably shouldn't be picky at this point.

If you camp on the Res. Hide your weapons well or leave them at home.
    Not allowed on reservation.

I asked a friend that lives up there for help and all I got was "no camping within city limits except in a campground".
