Stage Stop/Post Office In Upper Box Cyn

Does anyone know the real history of the old building in Upper Box Canyon? Years ago, I was told it was a stage stop. The first time I saw it, it was much closer to four walls and a roof than it is these days.
I started researching it a few years back, and thought I found it was a part of the Butterfield Overland Mail Co. (I had forgotten that was a mail service, I was remembering stage coach lines)
LoPhat and I were talking a bit about it last Saturday, which got me to looking for more info again. After a little more digging, it doesn't look like the Butterfield route ever made it anywhere near Florence.

    Screenshot from their website.

I'd love to know what this really was, even if was just the humble home of a local miner or rancher. I'm still digging, but if anyone has anything to point me in the right direction, I'd sure appreciate it.

In case anyone is interested, BLM has stated the section of the Butterfield Stage route near Maricopa is to reopen. I've checked the website a few times and have yet to find an eta or notification that it's reopened. As it's the closest Wells book trail to my house, once I know it has reopened, I will be planning a run.

Back to main question, I have always heard it was a stagecoach stop for this area when there was a lot of mining going on in the area. I beleive the stagecoach route ran from Florence, through Box Canyon, then Mineral Mountain Rd., past Reymert Mine and on to Pinal, which was right near Superior.
2010 2 door Rubicon, 37x12.5 MTR's, Terraflex 2.5" lift, Bushwacker Flat Fenders, Smittybuilt XRC bumbers and sliders, Warn 9500 Powerplant winch, Dual tops, Hard and soft doors, Superchip, ...and the list will grow.

Last night I started looking online at the Wagon Tracks area up off of the 60 by the Arboretum, trying to see if there was any link to that area, but the only map of routes I've found so far doesn't show that far out of the area of Pinal.
What you say makes perfect sense for a route. From what I've read, at one time Pinal was booming!
Hard to believe you can hardly find any trace it ever existed.

Big Nose Kate was Doc's common law wife and she died in Prescott, and is buried there.

Celia Ann "Mattie" Blaylock was Wyatt's common law wife, she is buried in Pinal Cemetery.

Fixed it for both of you.

And that concludes this morning history lesson. 😊

So even with Google, a few members couldn't get the history facts correct. Too funny.
