    Re: Help - Mingus Mountain

    Just got home.

Justin, thank you soo much once again.

We got all of the kids to Jerome where my buddies family members were able to pick them up and take them home.

The Subarban was pulled out by another jeeper while I was out by the 89 where I had reception and while I was waiting for Justin.

The Suburban didn't want to start so it will be staying there overnight.

My bud will be there first thing in the morning with a tow truck to tow down to Phoenix.

    Thank you guys once again.

    Explanation of what happened

Yesterday, my son Xavier turned 3 years old.

The plan was to go up Mingus Mountain and scout around to see if there were any beautiful trees to cut down for Xmas once the permits went on sale.

My buddy Gus (with a Suburban) and his brother Tony (with an XJ) decided to tag along so we waited for them in Jerome where we gave the kiddos a car break.

    - I have 2 toddlers.
    - Gus has 3 toddlers ... he brought his new girlfriend who has 2 daughters.
    - and then Tony brought his set of twins who are two years old and 2 other girls of young age.
    - so yes, a lot of kids.

Once we were done with Jerome, we went to a spot I found on google Earth where there looked to be a concentration of pine trees up on Mingus Mountain. We hung out for a good two hours, kids playing around, adults socializing, sang my son Happy Birthday and then had cup cakes.

While socializing, Gus had mentioned to me that he was tempted to drive through a puddle of mud we drove by. I remember seeing the puddle, but thought nothing of it because I'm not into mudding. Well apparently he is. I warned him "don't do it, you're going to get stuck".

It was time to go, we were on our way to run the Woodchute Trail that runs beside 89A.

Gus was running third, I pass the puddle of mud, his brother does as well and in the rear view mirror I see Gus go for it. My heart sank and so did his Suburban! /sighs.

We get the straps out and try to yank him out with no success.

Temps began to drop, kids began to cry and I had to make the call for help.

My next to hours were full of me trying to get reception while asking for help.

While waiting for Justin near the 89, a fellow jeeper that was camping nearby had a winch and pulled him out.

    The Suburban was completely dead.

Justin was kind enough to help us transport some of the kids to Jerome safely where Gus's dad and sister where there waiting for us in order to drive them home.

Thank you guys for spreading the word, thanks Bob for willing to drive 2 hours to us and finally, thank you Justin for helping us out.
