    Re: Krispy's Cherokee

Pick a part is having a 1/2 of sale, so I figured it was a good time to get my rear differential. I got an 8.8 limited slip with a 3:73 gear ratio. Now with the half off price I got it for 60$ but then I found out they charge extra for the brakes so all said and done before the core charge I got it for 100$ still not bad.
My front diff has 3:55 gears. At the pick a part I grabbed a ring and pinion out of a Cherokee with 3:73 ratio. I plan on putting 4:56 gears in later, but for now I can start wheeling. Also I think the carrier break starts a 3:73, I should be set for the deeper gears and for some reason the guy at the pick a part didn't charge me for the ring and pinon....Freebie.
I going to get an Aussie locker for the d35 and get rid of the passenger side split shaft. Maybe I'll do a truss to wile I'm at it.
I started to clean up the 8.8. I took all the brakes off then cut away the brackets on one side then ground it smooth.

Looks like mine when I swapped in an 8.8 back in may. I got an 8.8 with 4.10 gears. I am going to do my front gears this weekend! It's been way too long!

I did check out your build, good job.
For some reason I thought I was skilled enough to cut off the ford factory perches and re use them but that didn't work. So I also got the iron rock kit but with out the truss today.
When you set the pinion angle up on yours did you use what iron rock, said about 13 degrees? I too do not have a SYE yet or will have one soon, how did things go with the OE driveshaft?

It has worked great so far. I have not had any vibration at all. I am pleased with it. I do wish I could find some shorter shocks though. I have very little up travel. I just need to add some more lift.

And I drive it daily and take it hunting, but I haven't really wheeled it hard since my front is still 3.55.

Haven't started yet. I've been working on the axles. I have a locker coming on Tuesday for the front. I want to have the 8.8 ready to install on Wednesday. The cage will be after that.

Finished up removing the brackets from the 8.8. I welded the tubes, I don't think I'm going to truss it now. I'll save that project for later.

More cutting! You can start to see where I'm going with the rear quarters. I'm running tube from the slider up to the panel then tie it into the bumper. I hard to see with the way it stands now but in my head it looks great.

I needed more access to install the rear diff so I cut a big hole in the floor...Ha! I'm relocating the gas tank up into the bed using the gas tank skid.
