Nice looking kit Phill. Make sure you go to Letzroll's welding workshop Saturday so you can go home with welding skills!

Its true that tons will nickel and dime you to death!!

New calipers, rotors and ceramic pads; Tom Woods drive shafts; Rokman front/rear, upper/lower short arms and today, a 4 set of Allied 8x170x17" bead locks, thank you AZDIESEL for the contact!

Welding will begin this Saturday, everything is finally starting to come together!

    39" vs 35" good Lord!!
Not sure when my thinking went wrong, but how I ever thought 31's and a 2" lift would be my limit....

Crappy photo but it was a big jump going to 39's from 37's too, more than I thought it would be.

Why not just go the full 40? Cost or tire availability?

Because the tires I wanted to run come in 39", not 40" 😀

    that will be the test!
If I break these like the other axles, next step is Rockwell's and bank robberies...

    Yup!
The plan is 39" Red Krawlers, only because they don't make 40's

Re: ARTEC Beta Kit/Superduty TJ Build~

Chili and I got the truss melted on this morning, the fit was nearly perfect, but had to do a little notch on top to get a perfect fit. Could of ground down the ridge on the housing, but chose to notch the truss instead.

We tacked it down and continuously verified the fitment of the top..

Using a torch, we preheated the cast housing to around 400 degrees before welding on the housing, this reduces the chance of warping the tubes and cracked welds when it cools.

Re: ARTEC Beta Kit/Superduty TJ Build~

Done with the truss part, we wrapped up in welding blankets for the night to help slow the cooling, further reducing the chance of warpage and cracking.

Still warm 1.5 hours after wrapping it it!

Tomorrow I will start fitting the coil perches and LCA mounts. All is coming along nicely so far.
Now, gotta get back to my corner with my sign so I can get the rest of this build done!
