    Re: Good Ol Joe.

Having first met Joe over 35 years ago, I got to know him as a pillar of knowlege and honest hard work. Those that know me now that he is the only mechanic I have ever trusted with my Jeep and the only one ( to the best of my memory) I have ever recommended. Simon will tell you how I (even recently) would seek his help / advise...he always seemed to know the answer before I could finish with the symptoms. More impressive was how in the very rare event he was stumped, he would not hesitate to admit it.

I still remember when I forst met him to rebuild my CJ2a t90 and D18 transferrcase. I was 16 and had vary little money. After giving me what was an out of possible estimate to "do it right" (it had sat 4 years full of rust / water), he asked if a little noise would bother me. "Heck no" I replied.. Woth parts and labor, he got them fixed for under $300 . Both are still in the Jeep, working great.

I As much as I would like to see him pull through this, above all I wish him peace.

    Re: Good Ol Joe.

This is very sad news. He just upgraded the out put shafts on my D300 a few weeks ago. While I didn't know him everyone in this community had the higher praise for him and he was the only one I wanted to have do the work.

Prayers to his family and this entire community who loved him so much.

Well, Joe decided to go work on old jeeps elsewhere. He will no longer be available to help all you jeepers with tranny or rear end issues. We have truly lost an Icon in the jeep world and most likely will never see another one like Joe.
