The mount I have for the ham rig has a 3/4" hole for NMO style mount. That meant i needed an NMO to UHF adapter. If you fab your own, you can drill the mounting tab to 1/2" or 3/4" depending on your preference.

I think I just might take you up on the offer to shorten my mount. And, if you decide you'd like to try the same Firestik mount for your ham rig that you have for your CB, I do think i have one sitting in the garage, with cable. I was considering using it but wanted to try and keep the antennae in the rear to minimize trail damage. It's yours if you want to give it a try.

What part of town are you in? I'm far NW, just North of Happy Valley on 67th Ave. Free most evenings and weekends.

For anyone else who might be interested in any radio stuff, an antenna check, or just BSing in a driveway full of Jeeps...I suggested we get together tomorrow evening (Thursday). If that works for him, we'll be doing this and some rear sway bar disconnects on another Jeep in my driveway at 5pm. Any are welcome, PM for address.

Well, here's the re-worked bracket. I can now fit under the carport or in the garage without having to pull the antenna. We checked the SWR and impedance and all is good. Nice job and thanks, Carlos!

We had a good time, and Charlie's mount gave me the idea I needed for mine. And also after cutting it, some spare small square tubing to use, which I didn't have. I ended up making it again last night, wasn't happy with version 1. Now it's great, and mounted on the Jeep. I have to head to HRO today and get a new longer cable.
