Bilt For Comfort - Joe and April

Greetings....Some of you may remember Joe (Bilt for Comfort), his wife April, and their kids John, Mary, and Chloe. Joe and April are the ones who organized the SamDog memorial runs many years ago, up through Sunflower. Joe and April sold their jeep about 5 years ago, but have stayed in touch with many of us through facebook.

April was in a horrific motorcycle accident last Tuesday. She has lost a leg below her thigh, and in transport, had a small stroke. She had just been moved from ICU at Good Sam into a room, but they can really use some help. They will need to find a new rental home with wide halls, no stairs, etc, as April will be coming home in a wheelchair until she can be fitted with a new leg. Financial help is really needed. A friend of hers has set up a Go Fund Me account...

If you can make a small donation, and/or say a prayer, please do so. April is one strong lady, but even the strongest need some help now and then.
    Blessings to all.

Re: Bilt For Comfort - Joe and April

Thanks for the interest in our "old" jeeping friends! They're not old really! - April is 43, and Joe just a few years older.....It's just that they haven't been on the trails for awhile.

April has been moved to rehab at Good Sam. Her last surgery mended the torn tendons in her right wrist/arm, and "sealed off" the leg that was amputated. (They were not able to do that originally because of all the road rash crap that got imploded into the remaining leg stump.) She meets with speech and physical therapists, to help recover from the stroke that impacted her left side. She now has slight movement in her left side, which is good.

The family is doing well. Joe is back to work, begrudgingly so, as he'd rather be by April's side. Their girls are with her constantly, so that helps. The GoFundMe page is still up and going, and if you can't help financially, your prayers and thoughts would be most appreciated.

And whatever you do, do NOT be on your phone while in your car. Joe has posted quite adamantly about this, so while we don't know the details of the person that ran into April, we can only imagine.

Thanks again for your interest and whatever help you can provide.
