    89 to an 81...That work?

I have an 81 CJ7 and have found what could be a good deal on a parts donor but I am not sure about the cross over. Am I able to put doors, tops, or body parts from a 89 directly on my 81?

So, you want to put parts from a 1989 YJ on a 1981 CJ7? I'm pretty sure that won't work.

If you do all YJ parts (doors and top) onto your CJ, it might work. But CJ doors and YJ tops...I don't THINK match up. Could be wrong.

You're welcome to try my YJ full hard doors and / or hard top on your rig. I recall being told the door latch is in a different place on the CJ versus the YJ, but could be and usually am wrong.

you should be able to use most of the parts, the only thing you want to check is the body mounts, early yc works , later need modification. i have a yj tub on my cj now and it is almost a bolt on.

86 was last cj. 81 was when changed door srtiker from tab to round protrusion. I converted my 78 to take newer. Other than that, top / doors swap. We are using scrambler half cabs on our stretched yj tour Jeeps woth YJ doors, work great

Oh that was just mean ( true maybe...., actually I have done the tour trails in 2wd ... is more about desert experience. I take "crazy" lines to add fun). Trails can be challenging, but only because done in a YJ (were simple in 2wd ZJ)
