U.S. Government to Limit Off-Highway Vehicle Engine Output to 100 Horsepower

U.S. Government to Limit Off-Highway Vehicle Engine Output to 100 Horsepower

Acting preemptively in light of the European Union's recent push towards limiting Off-Highway Vehicle Engine to 100, Congress has quietly passed a transportation bill that will cap Off-Highway Vehicle Engine output at 100 hp.

At a press conference today, DOT spokesman Melvin P. Meyers announced that "We can't lag behind Europe's progressive stance towards Off-Highway Vehicle engine moderation." The bill not only limits the horsepower of current and future OHV models, it retroactively applies to any registered vehicle being used off-highway, and will take effect as early as January, 2017. "In the interest of public safety and resource management" Meyers explains, "law enforcement officials will clamp down on any and all OHV who violate the law."
The bill outlines numerous electronic and mechanical implements that reduce engine output. For instance, fuel-injected powerplants can be fitted with revised engine management chips and/or throttle bodies, while older carbureted bikes will have a reduction gear attached to the throttle assembly. In instances where owners choose to retain the mechanical authenticity of their vehicles, a banana can also be slipped into the exhaust pipe(s). At the discretion of state police, mobile dynamometers may be utilized for field tests.
Both the OHV Industry Council and the UTV Industry Counsel have lobbied against the bill, in addition to most manufacturers including Ford, Dodge, Polaris, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki, and Yamaha.
There has been no comment from Jeep or Chrysler, though Forbes reports that JK stock has jumped 12 percent on the announcement.*
Additionally, early reports of Chrysler returning to square headlights to assist in the appeal of the modern jeep, known in the industry as the JK, to more men and less soccer moms are false.

For that to be a good fool's joke they would have to list a lower horsepower. There's no way my 3.8 puts out 100 horsepower anyway!

It was a feeble attempt. I was running out of time so I converted one from 2010 that was about HP limits on motorcycles.

It's getting harder and harder to pull off good april 1st pranks on forums.
