Bought the most important part today, a Dometic 15,000 BTU rooftop air conditioner.

Leaning towards buying a donor vehicle and mounting the van body on a modern chassis.

Well work began today on the van. We are pulling the body off of the van and swapping it onto the chassis from a late 90's Tahoe. Decided it made more sense to go this route rather than keeping the stock frame and swapping everything else out.

This is being done by Smitty and his guys at Finish Line Racing in Glendale.

I so love the patina of that body.

Isn't it great? I'm not changing anything on the exterior of the body. End result will look just like this.

    It's up and running!

Tempe Speed and Performance did an awesome job helping me finish off this project. Actually gets around pretty good with the 5.3 in it.

Will have to take some more pics. The frame was shortened, and motor mounts had to be moved up closer to the front. Also it's right hand drive so the steering linkage took some customization to fit around this motor. I bought a custom wiring harness from Howell, and a new chassis wiring harness, so that helped simplify things a bit.

Honestly the biggest hurdle was just finding a shop to do the work.
