    Picture Posting Help

Not sure where to post this but:

I am trying to use Photobucket to share some photos and it is taking forever to upload. Does anybody have anyway to decrease photo quality or something to speed up the process? Thanks!

seems to work best if you only do a couple at a time.

If your trying to upload a lot on PB at the same time it can have issues. I usually upload 5 -10 at a time and it does much better. They are usually 5-7 MB pics too. This is all on a 56 MB wifi cell hotspot.

To reduce photo size (to speed up the upload to photobucket), I use Irfanview:

    http://download.cnet.com/IrfanView/?...=dl&tag=button

It's a free download. I use this to re-size pics to (usually) 1280 x 800 or something close. After they're re-sized, they'll upload very quickly.

Photobucket bites for me, glad I am not alone! I ran into that same issue. Imgur seems to work much better - I can upload 35 pics that are 9-12mb each without resizing from my Nikon in less time than Photobucket can do 5. And you can then resize if needed in Imgur just clicking a button or two.

    Re: Picture Posting Help

It all depends on your internet connection as far as speed goes. There are many image reducing platforms out there, if you have the coin, Photoshop is the best bang for the buck, otherwise there are many free ones. Anything else I wouldn't personally pay for.

Imgur is a very nice platform, just not as well recognized. I can do about 25 per minute at my office at 15mb, but at home I can only do about 5. Upgrade your internet, your patience will thank you for it...

    Thanks for the help guys.

I was able to resize the pictures so they are smaller. When I go to upload the pictures it says I have hit my 242kb quota? What are my options?

    Re: Picture Posting Help

I had to pay the yearly subscription fee to upgrade. Which if fine for me since I use PB to essentially back up all my photos.

    Thats what I figured. Thanks.

Can you upload more than one picture to the site at a time??

    Re: Picture Posting Help

Yes but I try not to do more than 10 or so at a time for speed purposes. I can do for example like 60 at a time, but always have 4 or 5 that fail to upload then have to go back through and find them and re-upload. It's just internet connection speed that is the weak link.
