    Artec stuff is always sexy!

Be sure to read up on proper welding to an axle and good to remove air locker if you have one before welding.

Definitely needed on the JL. I have seen too many that rip the license plate off and also where the rear bumper damages the body. Looks good!

Nice! So they relocated the license plate to where the JK plates go? Looks good. Is that a dv8

It is a DV8. I'm not overly thrilled with it. they cut the full width part way too close to the tub. I feel like I need to take it back off, and plasma cut a small portion off, so that it won't interfere with any natural movement of the frame and tub.

JCR bolt on classic sliders in place of the Rubi sliders.

Indeed. I want to do it right, not mess anything up!

What have you done to your Jeep today?

Well. it didnít happen today, but I did have a new front axle built to replace my Spidertrax 609. It was completed a couple of weeks ago and been thoroughly shaken down. I wanted to build a tough axle and this was the recipe that I came up with:
    1) Currie trophy truck rear race housing specíd with 3.5Ēx.5Ē tubes.
    2) Ford 05 SD60 inner Cís and knuckles
    3) Ouverson Engineering (OEM) 40 spline Violator inner axles with series 750n (bigger than a 1550 series ujoint) Violator Ujoints, and Ďsoda caní outers. (The same axles you can find in Gravedigger)
    4) 10Ē PSC DE ram and factory 05 SD60 brakes, rotors, ebc yellow pads, and factory unit bearings. (Everything was machined for 8x6.5)
    5) utilized my TrueHi9, loaded with a 40 spline spool & double load bolts.

    On to the porn:
    The axle package...

Compared to my old 35 spline axles and D60 superjoints.

    The axle housing is beefy.

The build begins and the Cís are cut and machined.

Coming together. The bottom of the housing was plated with AR plate.

    My poor pinion...

    Completed and ready for rocks:

    Doin work:

Canít say enough about how beefy it is and how well done, Ouversonís machining is. Also, a big shoutout to Andrew, 30 Pack Matt and the crew at Letzroll for helping make this build a reality.

    [QUOTE=Huck;1079889 Insane amounts of customQUOTE=]

Holy mother of God. So in doing this isn't your ring pinion the week link now? And are you using stock Ford 05 SD60 inner C’s and knuckles? Since you dropped insane amounts of custom beef why not go with aftermarket and knuckles C's ? Are the stock Ford 05 SD60 inner C’s and knuckles really that good?

    Thank you.
It does bring some serious beef and allows me to no longer carry spare front axles. Itís amazing how much bigger than D60 stuff, they are. The 750n Ujoints are Rockwell 2.5 ton joints. These are just custom machined versions of them. Figured I would share some tech and let folks know whatís available for their 05+ SD60 axles, should they want to make a jump. This is the first build, I know of like it, in AZ.

Actually, itís prolly the crank thatís the weak link now. Are you familiar with TrueHi9ís? If I do break the pinion, Iíll bolt in a Gear works 10Ē or make mine into a megaHi9.

And are you using stock Ford 05 SD60 inner Cís and knuckles?

    100% Yes

    Since you dropped insane

(see I didnít spend insane amounts of money on it. I spent less than most folks do on RJ60, Carbon D44ís, etc., and itíll be multiple times stronger)

amounts of custom beef why not go with aftermarket C's ?

Really?? Have you actually seen the Ford 05+ SD inners and outers? They are huge and stronger then most after market Cís. You canít fit these axles in any other inner C made for our applications. No one makes an aftermarket inner C that is as large as them. If I wanted to stay limited to D60 stuff I would have kept my original Spidertrax 609 with after market inners. I chose a better C. Do some research and see for yourself. There is an aftermarket outer for them, but it is designed as a stock outer with a different cast high steer location. It didnít offer any significant advantage. The 05+SD60 housings can be bought for $300-400 or much cheaper than any aftermarket set of Cís (and thatís without buying outers). The axle package was designed to bolt into an 05+ SD60 axle with a 40 spline carrier. I already own a TrueHi9, so I went the 609 route. I ordered up a stronger housing and one that the tubes would fit the inner Cís. This set up allowed me to utilize all of the factory brakes and kept my costs reasonable. Believe me when I tell you that I sacrificed nothing in this build for strength and I challenge you to find me a stronger set of inner Cís and aftermarket outers, that will hold this setup. You can not use another unit bearing and still use these outer stub axles.... on a side note: I didnít mention everything done, but the knuckles (outers) were machined to run lower BJís, in the upper BJ spots. The only balljoints on that axle are four lowers, like my old axle.

Answered above... (But, I quoted your original post. To answer the added question, yes, they really are that good and more than strong enough to do the job)
    Pinion reference just for giggles.

Believe it or not, there is something good about running strong factory stuff. An amalgamation of parts.

A close shot of the inners machined to 3.512Ēs. Find me aftermarket ones this size, please.

Another view of the inners and outers.

The inner axles barely fit into these tubes. Pretty silly.

The set up allows for more steering than ram and itís a 10Ē ram.

Re: What have you done to your Jeep today?

wow, good to know that's why I'm asking. I'm building a set of full custom axles similar concept to a 609, but on the cheap. There is nothing cheap about a true hi-9. So I'm using a "cheap "nock-off" of the ford-9, that's actually a 9.5. I have been looking into the after market for inner C's and knuckles for strength. But if the SD stuff is strong and cheaper i would use those. Now i got to find a 05+SD60 housing. I hope I call find one for cheap.
