    Part II rear fender flares
Cut out plates with the same radis as the fender and clamp them to the body, used a square to line them up with tubes, marked the body postion and drilled holes in plate but them back on and drilled the body and bolted them up. Then welded in 3/4" square tube braces.

Re: Started My 1957 CJ-6 build

Being that I am going to run hard top I wanted A/C. The 4.3 I found did not have a compressor mounted. I found the brackets and acessories from one with A/C and changed them out.

    Removed this...

Re: Started My 1957 CJ-6 build

    The frame is 2000 TJ.
I stretched it 8.5 ins to make the 101 1/2 Wheel base of the old CJ 6
No real reason for picking that year/frame except it was one I could get from the junk yard that was straight.

I think if you could find an LJ frame it would work if you marked the firewall location and put the CJ 6 fire wall in the same place. The wheel bases are so close. Found that the distance from the grill mount to the fire wall of the TJ is Pretty much the same as the long fenders/grill of the later CJs.

Re: Started My 1957 CJ-6 build

After several discussion on my streteched frame vs. an LJ frame I decided to take the time to measure both.

    My stretched TJ frame 150in
    My LJ's frame 157 1/4

I didn't think there would have been that much difference being that the wheel bases are not that much different. So now I am not so sure an LJ frame would be a better choise.

Re: Started My 1957 CJ-6 build

Been on vacations and such so progress had slowed down. Stripped the frame and sent for sand blasting and powder coating. Got it back and reinstalled the axles, motor, trany etc. Bought a used Currie Antirock sway bar and installed it.

The plan now is to remove all the glass for storage. Build the roll cage and set mounting and while doing that prime the other parts that still need done.
