    Started My 1957 CJ-6 build

I have started my 1957 CJ 6 build. I am going to put the CJ-6 body and top on a 2000 TJ frame stretched out to the 101 wheel base of the CJ 6.

After the hack on the site this summer my album was toast.
I had put the picture on another web site as well. There are 170+ pictures and growing. Here is a new link and it is also in my sig.

That's going to look great! Are you planning on running the 4.0 or something else?

Frame was still intact. Just those real old frames are very weak and it was either do a lot of work boxing it, buy and an aftermarket, or use a different frame. With the TJ frame I get a gas tank in place, modern coil suspension, most of the adapters are available for the drive train don't have to figure it all out.

By the way I am hanging on to all the old parts at least till I get the body mounted before a painting it so this stuff will be come available for anyone who needs old restro parts. When I get there I will post up a list of all I have not used.

I hope to get more pictures up today of the CJ-6 and both frames now that I have the bodies off.

Very nice; I've been looking for a CJ6 myself. I'll be keeping an eye on this one. Once you've decided which parts you're not going to use, try posting them for sale on earlycj5.net. I could use the seats and/or seat brackets if you're not going to reuse them...

I have a very old set of Jeep seats, probably from a Willys time frame. Flat and square, both bottom and back. Yours of you can use them. The only thing I ask is that if you ever get rid of them, you give them away with this same request.

Added pictures of rear cross member replacement, Warn fuel tank skid, and cut line for extending frame, and extension pieces. Frame is blocked and rigged to be cut tomorrow.

Re: Started My 1957 CJ-6 build

Almost screwed up. The way I cut the staggered joint I almost made it to long. I needed and 8.5in extension. I layed it out to fit a 8.5 gap in the frame. What I forgot was that with the staggered cut you have to measure on the sides of the frame not end to end on the top of the frame. The stagger is 3in so I was three inches to long. I knew I had forgotten something about using that style of cut so I went back and measured the wheel base again and was 3 inches to long. Had to sit down and figure it out again. I made a couple of notes on the pictures.

This shows what I am taking about.

A friend of mine is going to TIG weld back together next saturday, will post more pictures after that.
