    If it isn't one thing...

So I finished my spring over, actually came out good.

Took it out a couple times, and now it looks like I'm due for a rebuild. Actually, I am pretty sure it's by all the noise it made. I still have to open it up to see exactly how bad it is, but am in need of a machine shop and a reasonably priced place to pick up a rebuild kit and other engine parts.

    It's the 258. Thanks guys.

I use BMI in Gilbert. The machinist guys are all Jeepers. My CJ-6 motor is down there right now.

Hopper's! Jimmy knows those old motors like the back of his hand. My 304 is down there now. He knows CJ's!

This is a little off topic, but I'd love to see some pictures of the spring over lift you did. Your thoughts on how it handled, rode, and flexed would be great too.

Thanks for all the good recommendations! I live in the West Valley but work in Tempe, so they are all within reach. I'll be sure to mention I heard it here.

I haven't taken pics but can. It rode straight, no wobble or anything. Just did a 4" drop pittman and new stabilizer, pretty basic setup, but feels as good or better than before. I went with Pro Comp shocks, front are now 25" extended and rear 23" (teraflex revolvers in rear). Flexed good and rode softer over bumps. It isn't quite as stiff as it used to be on road. If I drove it on the street a lot, I would have went to adjustable 9000 series to stiffen up, but it feels pretty good. Sits a little higher than I thought, but it looks clean underneath. I have never liked the plate and u bolts hanging down....

Hey Olney, WPhx. That would be nice if it is something cheap. I don't know how, but I died going up a hill. Would not turn over, could not roll back to push start. Seemed bound up, pulled starter and replaced (on the side of a hill) It started right up but seemed like it was lean. I thought it was the carb as I was on an angle. Drove it down. Sounded loud and kind of clunky. Drove it a litle way flat ground and it seemed like compression was low, power loss. Drove a little further, got really clunky loud and had a squeeling, kind of like the sound of a really bad bearing or something turning, then died. towed it home....

Thanks Josh, I'll see you this coming week.
