dzjeepchic's '92 XJ Expedition Vehicle Project

Guess who bought Mike Desertdawg's Son's XJ? George bought it to fix up for an expedition vehicle for me. There's a lot we want to do to it, and we started a build thread on our forum so we could share our progress and what we learn. Click the picture to go to the build thread.

By the time George gets done it will be a new vehicle! Glad that 2x4 came in handy.

I'm surprised the radiator had that much crud in it. I just replaced it maybe less than a year and a half ago and flushed the whole system.

Someone on another forum suggested the 'crud' is some type of radiator stop-leak, which makes sense due to the volume of it. d

Nope, I didn't put any in there, it was a new radiator, I installed it myself and it never leaked afterwards. The old one had a leak but I used JB weld on that for a temp fix. It could have been residue from stop leak the PO might have put in that the flush didn't clean out. But I even back flushed it and put fresh antifreeze in when I first bought it.

Nice start, I have heard that some anti-freeze's when mixed will turn to sludge, it has not happened to me personally. I have used stop leaks in the long ago past and do not remember them looking like that Maybe the newer ones end up that way.
Good luck with the build and keep posting.
