    XJ Cutting out

Hey everyone, My heep has me stumped right now and hopefully someone can help me. The other night I ran down to Digger's to get some stuff for our new place, coming back on the 101 my Jeep kept cutting out almost like not getting fuel. However when I moved out here in Sept both my fuel pump and fuel filter were changed when the fuel pump went out just outside Flagstaff. Now here's what has me stumped I have drove the Jeep a couple times since it had cut out on the 101 with no problems, today I was driving and jumped on the 51 and after about 5 min of running down the highway it cuts out again but not as bad, so I pull off the highway and drive home on regular city streets and it NEVER cut out. Any ideas cause where we are moving to I will be driving I-17 daily atleast 2 times a day

Yeah same tank of gas, but I would think if bad gas it would do it at any speed but only seams to do it over highway speeds (55-75). And I only get gas at QT cause have never had a problem with their gas

When our '97 TJ 4-banger started to miss on occasion and then got worse, we changed the 02 sensor and have had no problems since.

Yeep Tune up was done before the week before we moved out here

RalphA o2 sensor was replaced 6 months ago

This is why I am stumped because all I can think has been done

Very possible! might be worth a shot as a coil is cheap.

I had a crank shaft position sensor do the exact same thing to me. One day it just wouldn't start. They can be very temperamental when they start going out. I always carry a spare now.

I haven't had to deal much with coils but from my experience they either work or they don't

X2, I'm thinking fuel pump, just cuz it's new doesn't mean it's pumping the correct pressure. Check the pressure on the fuel rail to see what it's putting out.

The fuel pressure is at 55psi which is right about where it should be

x3 on the crankshaft position sensor. My 89 XJ does this about every four months more or less, I just unplug the sensor and replug it back in, the contacts get a little dirty and this cleans it up for awhile. The plug is by the valve cover at the back of the engine. Hope this helps.
