Break your JK TPMS sensor valve stem?

A couple of weeks back I slipped on a rock up at Smiley Rock and clipped off the tip of aluminum valve stem for a TPMS sensor. Fortunately it didnt damage the valve, but unfortunately the top was now uneven and the threads were damaged, so airing up and checking the pressure was exciting.

A new sensor is $30+installation, but Airpark sold me take-offs for $10.

I purchase all of my tires at Discount Tire and even though I still had my stock tire they installed the take-off stem and balanced the tire for free!

Heres what the sensor looks like. The valve stem is easily removed from the sensor by sliding up the rubber washer.

Chat with Raincodes about this, he trashed a couple of them something around 70 bucks or so, don't remember if that was for one or two.
they were pretty bad, so bad he had to change one tire to get home.
bummer, I use the short atv valve stems on all the junk, harder to brake or damage.
    good luck with it.

My 2006 Magnum R/T has them too. I had to get them switched over when I got my 22" wheels.

Yeah, if this becomes a habit I'll be looking for a better fix.

Allen - yeah, standard valves are sure more flexible then aluminum! You can drive with the stupid light on, or AEV makes a gadget that disables the light.

blazerv10 - I check my tires manually when I start out, but sometimes when youre driving its handy to have the sensor help you out to tell you when youre getting a flat.
