Redundancy is good. I can think of times when the yahoogroups (or some
other mailing list), might be a better format. For example, all point
bulletins from Sandee. =)

The Parker 425 pre fun run is this weekend, but you can only go if your a paid entrant. There are several AZ boys that are getting into Jeepspeed. I have the white one that was at the BBQ. There is one other one that is ready to race and about 3 more being built. The race is going to be awesome. I wont make it to this one though because my 2nd child is due around that time. My first race will be Barstow. If anyone is interested in Jeepspeed and has more questions feel free to email me. If your going to watch the race get there early and bring some warm cloths food and beverage(beer).

Hi Stu & Joe,
* I didn't know you could access the BBS through azvjc (thanks for

* I HATE Walmart
* I voted no on the poll. Problem I have is that the poll is to
determine whether or not to use the azvjc logo on the BBS. I would think
the first poll should be to determine whether or not a BBS is wanted by the
club members (thus my unilateral decision remark). I was gone the last 2
weeks of December, so perhaps I missed the original poll about whether or
not to set up a BBS....?
Anyway, no offense intended. I'm done kicking and screaming.

Really ? All of the BBS I belong to now, all which apprear to use V-Bulletin
as other than color they all look and act exactly the same, dont really send
email as we know it. If you sign up for a thread they will send you email
reminders that there has been a reply and then you still have to sign in to the
BBS to read it. Or can this be changed and a real email get send instead of
a reminder to log on and read the post or reply ????

Inquiring minds want to know :-)

Hi Jan,

Thanks for your comments...

The current poll IS the poll which determines whether or not the BBS should exist.

If people vote NO on the poll by a majority... the BBS comes down. Period. No discussion. It just disappears.

As I've said before, I'll not split the group by leaving the BBS up if the group doesn't vote for it in a simple majority.

I set up the BBS because I thought it was time to stop talking about it and make it happen... so I guess you could call that unilateralist.

Thanks for your inputs... remember to vote No and vote often!

Subject: RE: Yet another BBS question

Yes... it can be configured to send out email... it would have to be setup with a reflector (which I have the capability of doing on the server which is running the BBS). More likely than not, the reason that other sites don't do this is that they are not running the BBS from a server located on their desk and they don't have the flexibility that I do. It would be a bit of work to get it going... but it is possible.

Really ? All of the BBS I belong to now, all which apprear to use V-Bulletin as other than color they all look and act exactly the same, dont really send email as we know it. If you sign up for a thread they will send you email reminders that there has been a reply and then you still have to sign in to the BBS to read it. Or can this be changed and a real email get send instead of a reminder to log on and read the post or reply ????

Inquiring minds want to know :-)

Good morning all, I am headed down to Tucson for some work related business
on Friday but plan on sticking around overnight. If anyone would be
interested in running a trail that is near by Tucson that would be great.

I was thinking either Charouleau Gap or Chivo Falls, since I have not done
these trails in my own vehicle.

Please drop me an email if you are interested.

Subject: Help ID Dana 18 t-case

Hi, finally getting close to putting the transfer case into the 58
cj5, but have a couple of ?'s, trying to identify the case itself (i
know itsa a dana 18, small input) but trying to figure out
what 'flavor' of d-18 it is

pix are at www.malone-az.com/pix/jeep/d18

they identify the tooth count of each gear etc, any help would be
appreciated

also, the shifters I took of a 'donor' d18, stamped 18-15-18, and the
bolt that holds them in is threaded... however on the case i'd like
to use (no broken ears, gears in better shape etc), the mount is not
threaded (uses a standard bolt?)

Any idea on which in put gear I will need for this? (26?, 29?)

Art,

Your input gear has to be 26 teeth to make the high-range 1:1, since
that's how many teeth the output gear has. The intermediate-gear tooth
count is irrelevant.

I have a '61 CJ-5 with the dual-lever, small-input Spicer 18 case and the
pin that holds the shift levers on my case is smooth from end to end. It
slides into the holes in the case and is held in place by a set screw that
threads into the hole in the ear closest to the center of the case. In
your "back" picture, it's the forward-facing hole on the right-side ear.

Another tidbit - my shift levers are tensioned by a flat spring that
slides down alongside the outside of each lever and over the pivot pin.
The top edge of this spring fits into a slot in the lever, about two
inches up from the pivot. I can't tell if your levers have this slot or
not.

You could probably tap the unthreaded hole in your case to mate with the
threaded pin you have, or you might want to call Willys Works here in
Tucson (520-888-5082) and see if they have a pin and set screw you can
use.

Hope this helps some. If you have more questions, feel free to email me
directly.

Dave

Hi my name is Dennis Chamberlain, I have been having problems
getting the right rear axle hub off of my jeep. I have broken 2 6
inch pulley pullers trying to get this axle hub off. The left rear
just fell off the axle shaft, the right one on the other hand is
being a little more stubborn. There is damage to the tapered axle
shaft on the left rear and that is the reason the LR axle hub just
fell off. I am wanting to upgrade to full floaters and put some
4.56 gears in this rearend.

One other question if I upgrade to full floaters will the Detroit Ez-
locker still work? I think so but I thought I would seek the advice
of some more experienced jeepers.

Thank you for your help,

If you are going to upgrade the axels then why pull the hub off. Just pull the axel assembly out and through it away. You do not want to repair a two piece axel assembly anyway cause it will just brake again.

Hello All,Shawn Davis is leading a Broken Arrow trail run on Saturday, January 10, 2004.

When: 9:30 am
Where: Trailhead for Broken Arrow.
Rating: 2.5+
Length: 2+ hrs depending on photo stops
CB Channel: 4

Another member, his wife, my wife, and myself are going to run Broken Arrow this Saturday. Looking for other club members to join us. We have never run this trail before, if you have and would like to lead it would be appreciated. My cell # is (623)826-9416.

Broken Arrow is a fun trail with great scenery. A stock Jeep can make this run and there are areas for those with built rigs to test and flex their suspension, such as the Crack. Pay attention to the signs, as part of this trail is a one-way loop.

A lot of Pink Jeeps share the trail so please put your best foot forward while representing our club. For many of the passengers on those Jeep tours, you are the first real off-roader they have ever seen (gosh, that is a scarey thought!) You will find that most of the pink drivers are pretty cool!

The Devil's Staircase is fun, and some members have been known to run it bottom-to-top. If you do, please post a look-out at the top to prevent someone from coming down while you are trying to go up.

It usually takes a couple of hours to make the loop, which allows ample time for pictures and a stop at Chicken Point for lunch (you did bring lunch, didn't you?)

Enjoy and remember to TREAD Lightly!

I saw six (mule) on the road to Martinez Canyon (Florence Junction) a
week ago. Seven Springs is usually good between the Red Rover mine
and radio tower.I have also seen deer off Hwy 87 east side of the
Mesquite Wash road. I also saw several quail hunting west of Lake
Pleasant this year.
If you are interested in hunting east valley the Mesa Fish and Game
office has always been helpful to me.

Good Luck

Joe,
I think I can help convert the archive over to the BBS, and at the same time
create a set up that will grab new messages from yahoo and post them to the
BBS in (almost) real time, as well as cross posting the BBS threads to the
yahoo groups. Does anybody think this would be a good idea? Or do we want
to keep them as seperate forums?
