Hi Gang,

Mark Booth (blooddrive) has been hard at work archiving the past 5 YEARS
of yahoo groups azvjc emails into the bbs archive forum at
http://www.virtualjeepclub.com If you get a chance to give Mark a big
thanks, please do... this is a monumental task.

It appears that the archive is approximately 50 % complete (plus or
minus a few thousand entries <grin>).

First... a BIG Thanks to Mark for biting off a huge job in agreeing to
archive the yahoo groups azvjc emails (something well over 100,000
emails).

Second... I'd like to ask that those of you who have signed up for the
BBS give the search engine a try... I'd like to stress the server a bit
to see how well it holds up to multiple searches of rather large
database.

Third and final... if you haven't signed up for the BBS, you may well
want to just for the archive search feature... you would be amazed at
the wealth of information that has been gathered over the past 5 years.

Kind Regards,

Joe West

So....stop being part of the problem and clarify the facts for us. I'll
be happy to listen.

If someone wishes to put out information and not provide the facts so
that they look less than stellar, then that would certainly be their
problem and not Joes or mine or anyone elses.

Sad you have to stoop to some kind of male organ comment in your attempt
to communicate. It is so difficult to speak without this crutch of
yours?

Subject: coves run today

I must say Rob, the XJ's were very well represented today. Thanks for
leading the run man. Sorry Tim. You should have been pulled out by a TJ on
that hill. Anyone have a rear toe hook I can buy from them for a TJ? It
was great meeting all of you who were there today. Sorry I couldn't stick
around for the horseshoes. Next time I won't make any other plans on the
same day of wheelin. Thanks again.

>I had a great day today. I am not sure if it was the weather or just the
>chance to get out after a couple of hectic weeks before the holidays.
>
>I have an aunt in town who has somewhat of a green bent and wasn't doing
>anything so I invited her along. I posted the trip, Josh Wooten and Burt
>Eastburn both responded. I also had an email from James Zimmerman, but
>wasn't sure if he was coming or not.
>
>We me at the parking area alittle after 9:00, as I was a few minutes late.
>After some brief introductions, I asked for trail preferrences. No one had
>anything specific they wanted to run, so based on vehicle equipment we
>thought we would start on Raw Deal.
>
>In the many times I have been to Table Mesa, I have never ran Raw Deal, so
>Josh was first into the wash with his XJ on 31s , a limited slip rear and
>open front. James followed with his open TJ. Burt ran his "Rubycon" on 33s
>and I brought up the rear.

>We barely got started up the wash and Josh proceeded to show us how it was

>an atf fouled puddle of water someone had kindly left. He wasn't to happy
>about it. Can't say as I blame him.

>Everyone should take note: The exit off of Upper Raw Deal has been

>rocks on each side of the gate to prevent people from going around. I am
>wondering if there is anything we can do to prevent/change this?
>
>Once we exited RD we were off to Predator for a little more of a challenge.
>At the trailhead we found Stu, Roger Thomas, Bob Pelatt and others clogging
>it up and enjoying lunch. We called them some nasty names and they finally
>decided to let us by. Josh had never done predator before so we left his
>unlocked XJ and he rode with Burt. We came into the first obstacle, the
>waterfall section. I hit the line to the right and got up, then Burt went
>left. He tested the rubi's belly pan a bit and came up.

>
>The rest of the trail went without a hitch. We drove up annihilator to the
>first waterfall and just hung out and enjoyed the sun.

Give us the facts.....that is all I ask, now for the second time.

I am glad to see you have stopped with the male organ comments....that
is a great improvement over your previous posts.

As for ****....nah, won't happen....not as long as folks like you
continue to be part of the problem instead of the solution.

<sigh>

My understanding is that it is the earth cookies that are the trail
nazis. So, original email poster, what are the facts in this case?

Thanks,

Vincent , you missed the point of the e-mail . No one was bashing YOU guys .
The trail nazis are the GREENS , not anyone in any of our clubs . You know
how sick they are . If they get this type of info , even fourteenth hand ,
they try and put it on the front page of the paper and twist it all around
like we're out to kill the earth . So a little gas gets spilled , no big
horrible deal .We throw a little dirt in a bag or what ever and do a little
quickie clean up . Which might have been exactly what was done anyway . The
point is , just don't give the GREENS anything they could POSSIBLY figure
out a way to use as ammo against us someday . What was said is , just watch
how stuff is worded . I thought the original trip report was funny as hell
and I didn't think about it at first , but if a friend of some GREEN tells
some other friend of a green ....**** gets twisted . Have you been to the
Dunes lately ? The Greens have got so much of it shut down and there are so
many officers there you cant do anything there anymore . Plus a season pass
is now $90 . $25 just to camp overnight ! All because they used some info
against us . That's all that was said . Just don't give the greens anything
they can use against us . Even though it's a pain in the *** , we all have
to at least LOOK like saints .....
Have a good one ,
Purple .

Because Joe jumps on people before he finds out the FACTS. Why don't
you stroke him some more? But when one of your little reacharound
crew does something wrong you all jump to defend them.

That speaks VOLUMES of your common sense...

ok purple........sounds reasonable
so who the **** is .............????

laura_singleton@t...

let me post this to the WORLD as what i originally sent to joe west this
morning after he set me straight as to how i should conduct myself.:

i am VERY careful not to **** up our wheelin rights..believe me.

the amount of gas spilt on the ONLY line for me to get out was a LOT. his gas
cap dodn't just dribble but POURED out big time. i was really pissed when i
saw that, not that it was his fault- **** happens. i was the only one left to
get out. i was sure to have a big chance of sparking trying to climb
out---rocker on the rocks or even skid although i didn't plan on bottoming out. the dirt
portion was saturated with gas. it wasn't my idea but the gas was set on
fire. then i thought this may not have been a good idea but i waited it out. the
fire continued to burn for 5-10 minutes and then they started throwing dirt to
douse the flames. i was still very concerned to wheel over it but i didn't
have much choice.

i sugar coated the story for entertainment on the trip report. probably
should keep any out of the ordinary remarks off this board or any internet site for
that matter cause all eyes are watching

i don't consider myself a rogue but i do like to kick up my heels now and
then----good for the soul!

hope this helps explain the situation. my first thought was i don't need to
explain **** but then what the ****............

I think we as a group who like to go wheeling don't like seeing
trash all around the trail... fridges, ranges, old trash, diapers,
refuse that makes our trails look like dumps. The original trail
report really struck some nerves because we believe in preserving
the trails so we can run them in a few years. When I go wheeling
with buddies of mine we like to take scenery photos and who wants to
have trash all aroung the background. I've never posted a trail
report before, but you should keep in mind that not everybody is in
the same mindset because they were not there. When you go wheeling
you represent the club as do the posts afterwords. Joe West and Stu
I know for a fact attend land use meetings to try to keep the trails
open for us, please don't slam them if they take a certain ownership
for trying to keep them up.

take care

Laura and I both work for the City of Tempe , hence the Government e-mail .
I have a government e-mail addy when I'm at work also but I don't use it for
personal stuff . I sent her this since she is a member of the club also but
doesn't get all of the e-mails . She's interested in what goes on and cant
read all of our posts . She's cool so no worries .
Hope this helps clarify ,
Purple .

let me post this to the WORLD as what i originally sent to joe west
this morning after he set me straight as to how i should conduct myself.:

i am VERY careful not to **** up our wheelin rights..believe me.

the amount of gas spilt on the ONLY line for me to get out was a LOT. his
gas cap dodn't just dribble but POURED out big time. i was really pissed
when i saw that, not that it was his fault- **** happens. i was the only one
left to get out. i was sure to have a big chance of sparking trying to climb
out---rocker on the rocks or even skid although i didn't plan on bottoming
out. the dirt portion was saturated with gas. it wasn't my idea but the gas
was set on fire. then i thought this may not have been a good idea but i
waited it out. the fire continued to burn for 5-10 minutes and then they
started throwing dirt to douse the flames. i was still very concerned to
wheel over it but i didn't have much choice.

i sugar coated the story for entertainment on the trip report. probably
should keep any out of the ordinary remarks off this board or any internet
site for that matter cause all eyes are watching

i don't consider myself a rogue but i do like to kick up my heels now and
then----good for the soul!

hope this helps explain the situation. my first thought was i don't need
to explain **** but then what the ****............

Maybe we should make cleaning up the trail(s) a part of every
"mission"? That is, bring along trash bags and pick up trash along the
trails. ?

Thanks Man... nice post. Since you sent it to me privately, I didn't want to share it with the group... I'm glad you decided to. Trust me when I say that the heated emails flying back and forth are not directed at you, but rather at TJdriverdudeorwhaeverhisnameis.

Sounds like a group thing happened and a small bad decision was made... no big deal... don't sweat it...

What has turned into a bigger issue is that we have someone in our group who seems to have a different understanding of tread lightly than the majority of the group. In a way... this is a GOOD thing to be brought up since it refocuses the group on an extremely important issue.

We owe you a thanks for both your honesty and the fact that your post brought out a discussion which needed to happen in order to shine light on the bigger problem of what, as a group, we feel responsible behavior on the trail is.

Look forward to meeting you.

Hey TJ Driver,

The original poster wrote something to the effect of:

"...on the falls(yeah sure, faulty gas cap, uh huh) and then TEAM
XJ set it ablaze(practicing for the evening's firebombs at camp)."

Let's say for a moment, that I'm not the understanding 4-wheeler that I
really am... and instead, I was a BLM manager who happens to keep up on
the azvjc and other offroad groups to see how responsible they really
are... you know; kind of behind the scene verification. I'm reading
through the daily email and I run across this post which would seem to
indicate that some fuel was spilled on a trail and then someone ignited
it on purpose. Hmmm... now the post came from a run posted on the azvjc
and lets postulate for a minute that the posts which followed this post
went something to the effect of:

"Way cool man! Way to go! Yeeee-hawwwww! A new Fire Hole!!
(and so on and so forth).

What do you think that I (now a BLM manager or an earth cookie, you
choose) would think of the responsibility of the azvjc?

Now... let's postulate that the responses which followed the original
post went something like this:

"Probably better not to post that gas was spilled and then someone lit
it on fire. I'd recommend that next time that the fuel just be allowed
to evaporate or even better, carry along some environment friendly
cleanup supplies"

Which response do you think better represents the cause that all of us
are fighting for? Which response would you want posted at a BLM
meeting? Being responsible offroad isn't just for looks... we do it
because it is the RIGHT thing to do. A group of people made a mistake
by lighting fuel on fire in the middle of the desert. A second mistake
was made by posting the first mistake to a distribution list of
hundreds. A third mistake would have been to condone the actions
(which was thankfully not done) but which opened the door for a real
third mistake; you opening your mouth before engaging your brain.

You are protecting a person who doesn't want to be protected... for an
action which should not have taken place and it seems that everyone but
you recognize it. If you really think that lighting fuel on fire in the
middle of the desert on purpose is responsible (and no... please don't
try and tell me that it was an accident set off by a spark, okay?) then
you are in the wrong club. If however, you accidentally stuck your foot
in your mouth and need to gracefully remove it... feel free to say so...
trust me... I've laid down PLENTY of posts which I wish I could have
taken back.
