Last I heard you had asked for people to try out the BBS and help
debug problems. And I thought people had to sign up to do that.
I didn't realize those sign-ups were also votes of approval. ;-)

But I'm not trying to stir the pot here. I'm just trying to figure out
what's
going on. I seem to be a bit in the dark.

Hi Roger,

Members are already using the BBS... something like 136 signed up so far...
From the posts I'm reading, we're already past the point of whether or not
the BBS is viable.

People are voting by using it... and given the number of signups... we're a
go with no turning back.

I'm asking about using the names and images because I don't want to take
permission for granted...

No... I won't split the club over this...

I'll transfer the BBS license to http://www.porscheturboclub.com and
continue to access the azvjc through yahoo groups.

The bottom line is... we try different things, some work; some don't...
but splitting the group or alienating friends over insignificant stuff
like whether the club uses a BBS or not... just isn't worth it.

Important Stuff; Supporting Sharky for his accident.
Un-important stuff: To BBS or not to BBS.

I'm okay either way... this group is a great bunch of people and the
BBS, while I hope it succeeds, isn't that important in the overall
scheme of things.

My question... If the vote is "no", does this mean the BBS splits off
forming it's own club independent of the AZVJC? Just trying to
figure how evertything fits together... the AZVJC website, Yahoo
Groups and the BBS.

The vote for approval isn't signing up for the BBS... the vote is on
Yahoo Groups right now that will determine the fate of the BBS... If
the club doesn't want it... it goes. Simple as that.

Hopefully this clears things up a bit.

You seem to put alot of time and effort into this website and at the

With the number of members in the club, this can be a very difficult
task. No matter how the vote goes......Thanks for your efforts.

Roy and Roger,

I don't think thats what Joe meant by "If you have joined the BBs
then that's a yes vote". I think he meant that people are using it,
therefore is is viable. I think eventually we can use the BBS thusly:
When you log on you will be able to see all the "new post" only, if
you want. Also you will be able to receive email notices on a
response that you have made. Also there will be the great search
engine capability of "ALL" AZVJC emails from day one. Also no Yahoo
commercials. I am sure there are other "UP" reasons for doing the
BBS format.

Hi Joe,

We signed into the new BBS and at first it seemed to be a good one(for a
BBS). The thing I had never liked before w/BBS's is the time involved to
sift thru all the subjects, subjects again, and then thru the threads -
very time consuming.

After the sign-up process, the first this I went to was the For Sale
topic and on to the YJ/CJ list. I was surprised to see that there were
seven posts already listed being that the BBS just started a few days
ago. Next after opening the threads I was greatly disappointed to find,
as the usual in the past that I had seen w/ other BBS's, not a single
related topic, just a bunch of BBS (w/o the first B).

I hope in time others will mature and use it properly. I hate for all
your effort go lay wasted in time, due to lake in interest to the
virtual Jeep club BBS for this reason. And I would not like being an
Administrator as well knowing I would have to "police" the threads and
remove members for misuse.

I also noticed today an unusual drop in posts via the Yahoogroup post.
I hope this is not due to the new BBS and if so it will be temporary.
The thing I like most w/the AZVJC post using Yahoo is that I have my
e.Mail program rules set to sift and sort all the e's to various folders
by subject and key words so I would not spend much time opening and
reading them all and discrimiting to only the posts I wish to read at
that time.

Again, I hope eventually all the bugs, quarks, and immaturities are
worked out in due time and the Yahoogroup posts continue to live.

I for one would appreciate it. I find scanning info and following threads
much easier on the BBS format. Appreciate your work. Aye vote here.

I'm ready to pull the trigger...

Hi gang,

I'd like a little feedback here concerning running an AZVJC Bulletin
Board in parallel with our current website. Please pay close attention
to what I am saying. I don't believe that our website should be
replaced. just supplemented with a BBS style discussion board for those
in the Arizona Virtual Jeep Club who wish to participate in such a
thing.

Here's where things stand.

Over the past few months, I have setup a Cox business account and two
servers. I now have php and mysql running on one of the servers which
will be used to run the BBS. I have purchased a license of Vbulletin
(the same BBS software used to run jeepsunlimited.com) and am now ready
to install the software and get the site up and running. I have
registered the domain virtualjeepclub.com for the purposes of one day
instituting a BBS for the club.

Here's what I need from the club..

I'd like some feedback regarding whether or not I should proceed with
the install.

One final note. Mike Chatfield has done a TON of work on our current
webpage and trip notification system. the BBS WILL NOT replace this
system. but rather, will supplement the system IF AND ONLY IF there
seems to be a desire to implement a BBS. If not. I will be creating a
Porsche club BBS and will use the Vbulletin license I purchased for that
BBS.

Okay. let's have it. comments, concerns, good idea, bad idea.

Kind Regards,

Joe West

Subject: Power Steering Failure --- HELP PLEASE!!!!!!HELP!!!

Hey You guys,

I have a question and I hope that there is still some poeople
reading the yahoo posts.

My other car is a 1998 Nissan Maxima for starters. I was driving up
to Las Vegas this New Year and found myself dodgin another car
around one of the curves on the highway. Needles to say I ended
locking up the car and spinnig out of control. I was not worried
about crashing and burning but took more attention to the fact that
after I started the car back up again the power steering was
completly out.

Does anyone know of any reason that would have happen? How about
something that has to be reset after the car spun out? I already
thought about power steering line and there were no leaks, and I
have not been able to get to the pump? The motor is fine and was
more than happy to bring me home but my balance and alignment are
also off because the car shakes like crazy and one of my tires is
practically bald.

The other thing is that the dealership is quite a bit aways from my
house and I dont know if I will continue to damage the vehicle and
its components if I continue to drive it in the conditions that it
currently is.

Any suggestions or help will be HIGHLY appreciated and helpful.

Hello All,steve sample is leading an Axle Alley trail run on Saturday, January 3, 2004.

When: 9:00am sat
Where: cottonwood entrance
Rating: 4.5+
Length: few hours
CB Channel: 4

start the year out right...........

lets ROCKKKKKKKKK

Axle Alley is one of two, truly extreme trails in Arizona. This trail starts with several major waterfalls requiring the use of a winch. Last year when this trail was opened there were three waterfalls needing a winch; today the majority of extreme vehicles will still need to winch.

This trail is approximately 3/4 of a mile in length but it doesn't give you much time to "breath" in between obstacles. You will encounter boulders, waterfalls, creaveses, off camber and just plain "I can't believe I have to do that" challenges.

This is a fun trail for the extreme 4-wheeler, both driver and vehicle.

It will require a fully locked, lifted and modified vehicle with a winch. Bring lunch, plenty of drinking water and don't forget your camera.

Enjoy and remember to TREAD Lightly!

Really, in the 1st day or so, I did too. Now I find that unless I look in
every topic I am going to miss things and I am sure that there are some of us
that just dont have time to look at each forum to keep updated on what is going
on. Maybe if everyone could post into the right forum......there are trips
posted in general jeep, tech questions in the workshop forum, land use stuff
in the general and stuff that probably belongs in the OT or sandbox in places
maybe is shouldnt have been posted to and the list goes on. The ONLY way
this is going to work right is if people post things where they
belong......otherwise why have any forums other than general or OT.........(and when people see
that no one is looking at the OT then they put them back in general jeep or
something else.............I am beginning to think at this point that the old
was was easier, at least I could scan thru my email easier to find something
than to have to scan thru many of the forums to find the same thing........I
know that there have been a few complaints about the confusion and perhaps in
time things will work out but for now there are some who are ready to give up (I
am not yet but I read one mail from at least one person who has) .... If we
cannot clean up our own "house" the VJC will end up being a group of 100 or so
people and the less active people will just leave due to frustration. Is
this the beginning of the end for the AZVJC as we know it ????? HELP !

I can answer to one of your concerns.

Land Use will always be posted in Land Use and General. Land Use is
very important, therefore, we post it in General, so everyone has to
see it. We also post it in Land use to make a central location for Land
Use issues so that people can find them again easier after they saw
them in general.
