Yeah, nothing against Joe, but it looks to me like the list that we have
all know and used successfully all these years has just been hijacked.
Land use issues will be ignored.
Sigs will get longer and longer until it is like every other BBS format,
you will scroll thru five pages of sigs bull**** to read 10 lines worth
or actual conversation. Good topics will be FIFO'ed off the main page
before some folks will ever see them. Well I am sure most of you know
the drill, makes a guy want to go barf.

See ya all around I hope,
Ralph

Happy New Year Ralph!

Because of your concerns and the concerns of others... I have moved the Land Use forum to the number one slot on the BBS.
I will be implementing some features which will further highlight Land Use issues (as soon as I come up to speed on all the features that our BBS has to offer).

As far as the .sigs go... Come on Ralph! You know me better than that! We have FINITE disk space for our database and I WILL NOT allow it to be filled up with sigs. Do you doubt ME?

Subject: Viewing NEW posts in the BBS since your last visit.

The software is setup to automatically show you if there are new posts since your last visit.

If you look at the checkmarks to the left of each forum... you will see yellow checkmarks for forums which have new posts since your last visit and you will see gray checkmarks for forums which contain NO new posts since your last visit.

Alternatively, if you just want to look at ALL the new posts without having to search through the forums... click on the

View New Posts

Icon in the upper right hand corner and the software will show you all new posts, regardless of what forum they are in. You can then reply to the new posts and they will be put in the proper forum.

Hope this Help

Subject: New poll for az_vjc

Enter your vote today! A new poll has been created for the
az_vjc group:

Should the BBS website:

www.virtualjeepclub.com

Be allowed to use the name "Arizona
Virtual Jeep Club" and the images
associated with the AZVJC?

Answering YES to this question will
result in Joe West choosing a moderator
team to make decisions for the BBS
website (not the azvjc.org website). By
answering YES to this poll, it is
understood that Joe West will
ultimately be legally responsible for
the BBS website, and while he will be
utilizing his moderator team (of his
own choosing) to make decisions for the
BBS site... ultimately; Joe will make
the final decisions concerning the BBS
website because of his legal
responsibilities as owner of the site.

Answering NO to this poll will have the
effect of requiring Joe to remove all
the images and text which associates
www.virtualjeepclub.com with the
Arizona Virtual Jeep Club.

Joe West created this poll because he
believes it is necessary and proper to
receive the consent of a simple
majority of the active AZVJC group
before creating the association between
the BBS site and the Yahoo Group known
as The Arizona Virtual Jeep Club.

This poll will close in 30 days. This
is a private poll and names will not be
displayed in the results.

Joe West

o Yes... allow the website www.virtualjeepclub.com to use the images of, and be associated with, the Arizona Virtual Jeep Club
o No... all references to the AZVJC should be removed from the website www.virtualjeepclub.com

Joe:

I am having nothing but grief with Yahoo trying to log onto the poll. Happens
every time. They seem to forget my logon ID, etc. Pain in the tail (trying
to keep it clean.)

In any event, if I can vote this way, is YES.

Subject: Looking for a moderator to work with the archive section of the BBS

Hi Gang,

I'm looking for someone to help me create and build up the archive section of the BBS... My intention is to create an archive of every single AZVJC post from post number 1 through the current postings. Why would I want to do this? Well... the BIG reason is that our current BBS format has a very nice and very quick search engine which will be INCREDIBLY useful for folks with questions.

The moderator for this forum would be responsible for figuring out how to take the text files I have of each post and figuring out how to automate entry in the BBS using windows scripts or ???

This is likely the single biggest help to those who wish to use the BBS for answers to questions. I have already (using simple cut and paste) put posts 1-15 in the archive section of the BBS. The text files I have each contain 15 posts... and I have THOUSANDS of individual text files.

I won't minimize this job... it will be a big one and will likely require many hours of invested time to figure out how to automate the entry process.

Anyone interested? If so... please let me know.

Kind Regards,

Joe

Joe,

I've been thinking about your comments below and I find them
confusing. When you say it "isn't meant to replace our current
webpage... only to supplement it" it seems you are comparing
your BBS to the www.azvjc.org website. I would think you
should be comparing your BBS to YahooGroups. Is this
correct? Is it actually a replacement for the YahooGroups
capability? And does it, in fact, replace YahooGroups or can
either be used?

I believe a clearer explanation of how your BBS fits into the
overall scheme of things will help you get a better response
to your poll.

Joe,

I think the question of your poll is premature. Whether or not your
BBS should be allowed to use names and images associated with AZVJC
is dependent on whether or not the members vote to use your BBS. I
think you should first be asking whether or not the AZVJC should
switch to your BBS.

But I commend you for seeking permission.

Just my logic.

Hi Roger,

Members are already using the BBS... something like 136 signed up so far...
From the posts I'm reading, we're already past the point of whether or not the BBS is viable.

People are voting by using it... and given the number of signups... we're a go with no turning back.

I'm asking about using the names and images because I don't want to take permission for granted...

Hi Roger,

The website will be an ALTERNATIVE to using Yahoo-groups and can replace Yahoo Groups for those who choose to use it.
It isn't meant to replace anything for anyone unless they choose to have it replace it.

The key is... it doesn't replace anything... it is just another format for information transfer for those who wish to avail themselves of it.

Sorry for the confusion.

It already does that. Look at the color of the square to the left of
the topic. Gray means no change, yellowish means changed.
You have to be logged in for this to work.
