    Re: It totaled...

i was rearended in my 87 four runner, bent bumper and a dent in the tailgate, no kidding, two hitts on the tail gate with a 2 x 4 and hammer dent was gone, bumper was still rock solid, i even still used the tow hitch built into it, window in the tailgate worked fine after removing the dent, they totaled it and I smiled, took the money and bought it back happy as heck, when it happened I was thinking maybe a grand on the high side with paint and a new bumper, maybee 1700 total value of the truck, it had a lot of miles but 4wd and ac worked, they said 2700 in damage and it was valued at 2800, both numbers were extremely high in my opinion, but if that is what they came up with I was happy to accept 1700 check and keep the truck, no way I could find a dependable 4x4 with ac for a grand, its amazing what body shops charge if insurance is paying

I think I saw you driving your jeep on my way to the airport this morning at Guadalupe and Cooper, were those ski goggles you were wearing as your windshield?!

Actually, they're old surplus Army goggles. Any yeah, that was me. I take Cooper down to work every morning.

Oh, and I've made a deal with Chad (trailjockey) to buy his badass yellow Jeep. And it's looking like the insurance company may actually pay me enough to kill the loan, buy it back and cover my deductible! Thanks Steve (Olneyjeeps) for the help with that. If all goes well, I'll actually come out ahead on the deal.

It's always good when you come out a head it situations like this.

In the summer of 2006 I bought a slightly used 2006 Crown Victoria for $15,200. I drove the car for nearly a year and a half before that old goat pulled right out in front of me and totaled it. I owed $14,000 on the loan at that time, I got $17,600 for it from the insurance.

If you decide to buy it back and part it out... I need a exhaust pipe from a TJ 4.0L. I need the pipe that attaches to the exhaust manifold. The one with the two small catalytic converters in it before the two pipes join to one for the rest of the exhaust system.
