With 36 miles one way to work (Mesa to Scottsdale), I can't afford the time it would take to ride to work. I can't wait until we move to Scottsdale/Cavecreek so we can be closer to work.

For now I ride to the gym in the mornings (only 10 miles round-trip).

I've kept riding to work, and it's getting interesting with the heat! But with enough water, I think I'll be OK.

I have a Tandem with a tag along bike to turn into a Triplet and pick the kids up everyday from school. It is only 3.5 miles but the kids have fun and I get to ride everyday. I'll be glad when it cools down a tad.

The kids love it. We get around 120 miles a month on it. Sometimes I have the Tandem+Tag Along+Double Burley Trailer. That gives me two kids pedaling, 1 in the trailer and the dog in the back of that. I am good for about 25 miles on that till I need an Ambulance ;=). Sometimes we go up with that rig and ride along Lake Mary road in Flagstaff.

If you have kids and like to ride I highly recommend getting a tandem. My daughter is 10 and we have great conversations when on 30 mile rides. I hope she will want to keep riding when she is in High School. It is a great way to keep a good relationship with your kids. My son is 8 and he can't shut when we ride. Question after question... My wife follows on her single and laughs because the kids are busy chatting away and looking at the sights while I am trying to climb a hill.

All in all Cycling is a great family outing that does not have to end just because the kids are small or seem like an inconvenience.

I would love to ride my bike to work but 36 miles one way with no good route would be tough. Besides when I get called I have to be there in 2 hours

I started riding to work today; 8 miles each way. It feels good to get back on the bike again. I need to track down some street tires for my ride though. 2.10 downhill tires are a drag on pavement.
