    A Hi-Lift Hood mount for $15

Since i mounted the hi lift to the front bumper a few months ago i have been beating the hell out of it any time i try to climb something. It will be a long time before i get a swing out tire rack that can accommodate a hi lift and the back bumper seems like it will have the same problem. I'm not willing to give up any space inside either. Something needed to be done and the hood was looking like the best option but i was not willing to pay $80 for a hood mount. a quick trip to the hardware store and $15 bucks later and presto a budget hood mount that doesn't look too bad.

all it is is an angle iron and a few bolts. I cut two 3" pieces and drilled wholes to attach to the hood bracket then attached a 31.5 inch piece to span between them. two 3/8th" bolts coming up through to attach the jack and that is it.

the completed mount (don't mind the dirt it is getting a bath tomorrow)

a close up of where it attaches

can't wit to test it out this weekend

There's a company that sells something similar but they tell you to mount the long piece facing the other direction as the angle facing forward will put strain on the bolts on the hinge mounts.

I have always like this set up.

How is your Hi-Lift hood mount after a few months? I thought of using tubular steel.

    Thanks

Still working well. I'm working on figuring out the best way to relocate the washer fluid squirters. no problems with it otherwise

    Good luck!

I found that the easiest way to relocate the squirters is to put them where the rubber stoppers are. don't need 'em since this stops you from putting the windshield down any way. they will shoot right over the high lift onto the windshield.
