    Must be different times now..

We (the AIR FORCE) Always carry one in the chamber for our sidearms, for the M16/M4 It depends on the situation. But ill say again. We ALWAYS carry one in the chamber of our sidearms.

I would not doubt that. World of difference between sidearm and shoulder fired arm.

I can assure you that neither the AF, Marines or Army will allow you to have one in the pipe of your shoulder arms while en route via air or ground transportation. Nothing new that has been SOP forever.

Answer is simple:If you can't trust yourself to carry with one in the chamber, get you a baseball bat to carry.
If you feel you can trust yourself with the amount of training you have, carry with one in the chamber.
See the key word there? If you have a problem with one in the pipe, then you probable most assuridly need more training.

Do they look anything like these mint condition 1893 Colt New Army Revolvers in .41 Long Colt. Notice the US Marshals engraved Ivory grips. It is suspected that this pair, acquired in Tucson, once belonged to US Marshal William Meade. I've tried just about everything to confirm this, but the the Colt Archive only shows the sale of the pair from Colt to the US Marshals Office in Tucson.

I'm not sure why this thread shows up in my recents, but I'll add.

I agree with this for the most part. I don't agree that you should carry a baseball bat if you don't, but I do believe you have to be comfortable with it. You have to trust yourself, and you have to trust in whatever you're carrying. It took me a little while, but now I'm completely fine with it. .02

Re: Poll - One in the pipe or not?

the two questions I asked myself were:

Are you really going to have enough time when it really matters to chamber your weapon?

    and

Are you going to be able to make a snap decision and make sure it is the right one?

If you answer "no" or "possibly not" to the first one, and "yes" to the second one, I don't see a problem with one in the pipe.

Against SOP in Federal LE agencies NOT to have one up the pipe. Not having one would be considered negligence. If you are afraid of the gun going off you need more training

Unless you plan on hitting them with "a large heavy paper weight" for your first line of defense, what the hell's the point in carrying it unless it's chambered???
