I've thought about this for a couple of days now, and can't come up with a #1. I have a few that get a lot of use, and just can't narrow it down.

Since this topic resurfaced, I'll give it a go this time.

For recreational shooting and pure fun factor I have to go with 5.7x28mm fired out of my FN PS90.

I have a lot of other guns in other calibers that get some playtime action, but this one is fun, accurate, and easy to shoot - good combination for a recreational piece.

I like the 5.56 or 2.23 what ever you want to call it, it's just good fun to plink out 200-300 meters and watch what ever you are shooting at fall over.

My XD9 and my mosin nagant (7.62*54R) are probably my favorites.
Also have my great grandfather's winchester 25/35 that was used in the cattle and sheep wars in Texas. At a $1.50 a shot, it's a little too expensiveto just go plinking with.

Personally i believe in practice and carry the same or same type of weapon altho it maybe cheaper to practice with a .22 than say a .45.Your mind and body will not be used to the added weight of the bigger piece, this in a situation where your reflexes and mind are already taxed.just food for thought.
Also i like to use my .45 i practice with cheaper off the shelf rounds but after practice i load up with 165 gr.that travel roughly 1250fps.

I don't think anyone, at least not anyone that carries, would argue the point about your practicing on what you carry. Muscle memory is very important and practicing is the way to make it happen.

I shoot a variety of handguns, rifles, and even a shotgun or two. I totally enjoy shooting all of them....some more than others. And I certainly do practice with what I carry....but not to the exclusion of everything else that I reload for.
