That sucks. I wanted to do it when I got my gears in so I wasn't killing the brakes on 3.73's and 35 tires. If this is true, which it probably is, that blows. Maybe it's time to buy a condo in Moab and then go wheeling!!

EDIT: Someone mentioned the back of Lion's Back. Last I heard that was impassible.

Back of Lion's Back is a different trail than Lion's Back.
It is a HELLUVA trail and makes Lion's Back look like a scenic highway
This closure for condos (of all things) is total BS! I'm wondering where BRC and the like are on this? Isn't this what our fees go for?
The current climate of 1%ers and attitude toward "oh well, who cares... there's more places to go" is really making me rethink the whole off-road industry. maybe I should get in to road racing... there's always roads and tracks open.

Lion's Back is private property. BRC and such only affect public land access issues. Would you want a bunch of people telling you what to do with your property? Liability is a huge issue for the private property owners--we are lucky we were ever allowed to use Lion's Back at all. But I agree that condos suck.

    Re: Lions back closed

I've driven past it mucho times and never had the desire to go up it. It's not a trail, it's a hill on private property. I'm sorry that the folks who enjoy it won't be able to play on it anymore. At the same time, I wouldn't lump this parcel of land into the larger trail closure issue. I don't consider myself a 1%er either...

    Re: Lions back closed

A little saddened to hear of it's sale, it was indeed a bit of a rush to drive up it for the first time...

However, with the world being what it is today, I'm more surprised it stayed open as long as it did. A number of people have been hurt on LB, so with todays's "ain't my fault...GOTTA be someone-elses" mentality and litigous-happy society, it's days were numbered...

If I were a betting person, I'd bet it is at least in part because property owners were likely no longer able to get insurance at a price they could afford, and still run it as a business.
Working for a living is highly over-rated...
