    1984 cherokee 5.0HO v8?

well heres the thing, this is my first post on this forum and i have a looming question. i have a 1984 cherokee 2 door that originally had the 2.8L gm v6 P.O.S, and i have a 5.0 HO v8 out of a '92 ford t-bird with ecu and harness and i need to know if ANYONE out there makes a transmission/belhousing adapter to mate the motor to the torqueflite 904 with a NP207 transfer case. i know that that factory combo is kinda weak and obsolete but im trying to keep this a low budget swap for a mild use 4X4. websites, numbers, maybe anyone who may have done this alreadywould be helpful. if it cant happen then what tranny would swap out directly or interchange and would fit the 302???

If anyone makes an adapter for it, it would be Advance Adapters.

well ive google searched as much as i could and i coulnt come up with anything from advance adapters and from what i could find there are only adapters for sb chevy and chevy 4.3 out there, i was hoping someone here would have some personal insight into this swap, or could tell me of a tranny and transfer case combo that would best fit in the xj with that 302 because it looks like i may have to do that with the way my search is turning out, but some ideas on what kind of well rounded package could be created with as little over-modification and fabrication as possible.

ANY SUGGESTIONS OR SOLUTIONS WOULD HELP RITE NOW!
    ...cause im outta ideas

I did the 3.4l HO conversion on mine.Bolts right in and everything fits like it should, except the fuel pump. You have to add an electric fuel pump. They were designed to be a replacement upgrade for the 2.8l in the S-10.As for power, raced a 4.0l wrangler one night and beat it .

You can still get the engine from the chevy performance catalog. These are brand new engines, not remanufactured.I know its not using your existing Ford engine but its a good option. Don

Your best bet is to call Advance Adapters and ask for the adapter. Granted it will not be cheap, but most likely they can tell you if it has been done. I don't think they list all that they sell.

AV4XJ, the 207 won't hold up, you'd be better off with a 229 from a full size wagoneer. If your dead set on the 904 then you running out of options unless you want to run a chevy motor. 904 bellhousing is a chevy pattern.
But if you don't want the 904 and can handle and AX15 or Nv3500 I can get an adapter for you. (Ford 302 to JeepAX15 or Ford 302 to Jeep nv3500)

pm me if your interested. AZXJ

Have you tried looking around at North American XJ Association site yet? www.naxja.org It's a dedicated Cherokee/Comanche site with a wealth of information. I always see threads about engine conversions, maybe there's something along the lines your looking for there.
