I recently purchased a 97 4wd cherokee with 125k on it, had it inspected for a check engine light and was told that the torque converter and/or pump are bad (fluid leaking out of front and error code), the shop recommended a rebuild. I looked online and found a place in phoenix that sells remanufactured transmissions and the total cost would be about 1200 installed and have a 12 month 12k mile warranty. My help needed is.. should i just have the bad parts replaced in the transmission, have mine rebuilt, or get a remanufactured one? Also, anyone with good / bad experience with local transmission shops please chime in. Thanks in advance for your help.

First thing I would do is take it to another shop for a second opinion..It may not be as bad as you think.. Did that on an old pickup I had and ended up not needing a rebuild, just a part replaced.

Ken's Transmission on Bell Rd. If you have the tranny pulled for repairs; you would be better off to rebuild it. You don't want to do this twice. ;)
