Well I'm going camping this weekend up in sedona and was lookin at some of the trails on the old site, searched here, and narrowed it down to schnebly hill road or cliff hanger.....im not even sure you can camp on cliffhanger but it seems like a more fun trail than schnebly?
anyone know if camping is allowed on cliffhanger....any other info on places to camp would be appreciated, although i have read the other threads on sedona and dont really need any repeat information....Thanks

If you call the ranger station, you may get a "gray" answer. That trail is right on the edge of the no-camp zone. If you decide to try to camp on Cliffhanger, two things:
1. Be on your VERY BEST Leave No Trace and Tread Lightly behavior. The Forest Service watches this area very closely, and they had actually considered closing it entirely because of people driving across the creek. We begged them to keep it open, and they acquiesced, FOR NOW.
2. Expect pickup trucks and horseback riders to pass through your camping area, as there are no places to camp where you can get more than ten feet away from the trail. And they will all be locals, and just looking for an excuse to kill and eat a tender Jersey boy... :D
If you go to the top of Schnebly, you can camp beginning about 1 mile in from the overlook, which is beyond any of the red rocks. And, unless you enjoy temperatures of 28 degrees, I would not recommend camping on the rim at this late in the season. There are places to camp on the west side of Sedona, on the west side of FR 525.
Currently no fire restrictions: http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/coconino/conditions/index.shtml
Call or stop by if you have any questions.
