Tomorrow morning, DesertFab Motorsports will be present for the "media event" being held to promote Truckin' and 4x4 Nationals this weekend out at Firebird.
We were invited to participate in this event last Friday, and just got the details of what is happening late yesterday.
Good Morning Arizona, seen daily on KTVK Channel 3 will have Brad Perry onsite for a little fun, as he usually is quite the character. Plans right this second are for a video only spot at 7AM and then Rockcrawling demo at 7:15AM on Thursday 10-13-05.
We were asked if we had two seats in the buggy because they wanted Brad to ride along in one of the segments. This is ludacrous!!! Why would we waste that kind of opportunity?
We responded "Why make him just sit there, let's let him drive the rig over whatever he feels confortable doing." The response...
"Please bring an extra helmet for Brad."
Oh yeah!!! Brad's gonna drive the buggy!!

Cool! (But hardly OT, in my opinion!)
Will set up the VCR tonight.
And next time we're on a run, can I be "Brad"? ;-)
Tom...errr, Brad! Gimme the keys!

real buggies don't need keys :) LOL
Plus, we'd just lose them somewhere and pushbuttons are cheaper anyway.
I have my DVR setup to record, and will be asking the crew there for a media copy.

If we had any in yet, I would certainly slap one on his chest and force him to pimp it during the weathercast LOL
I figure we'll let him drive whatever he feels comfortable doing. If it's only flatland, so be it. I'd rather see him on the rocks as well.

Glad I saw this, will set the DVR tonight. I loved his ride along with Troy so him driving your beast should be a great thing to watch. I hope he tries some rocks, even if they are pebbles. :D

I FORGOT TO SET THE VCR! <AAARRGHHHH!>
Someone report how the video/segment went, please. Would it be possible to get it hosted here, or through a link to somebody's site?
Nobody home to record any subsequent showings except the dog. And she only knows how to work the stereo! ;-)

So far April rode along. Haven't seen Brad drive yet but the still have time, maybe this next segment. I was going to get media passes for this but the war dept. won out. We will be going north for the fall leaves. i wanted to look at lifts and lockers:( maybe next time.

I kicked off the VCR this morning at 6:00am, should have everything until about 8:00am, but won't be home until tonight to watch it.
Did anyone see it live, any driving by Brad????
What happened?

Well, went over without a hitch. Turns out that we didn't have time for either of the folks out there to drive the buggy, but we did take the hot forecaster April Warnecke for a ride over the rocks. She didn't have a mic on, but Todd said "she didn't say much, but she sure squeaked a lot with a few 'Oh my God' phrases thrown in." I especially loved the sound effects Brad was giving us during the ride along. April did want to drive, but they were running late and just didn't have time to do it.
Over a full minute of dedicated airtime and at least ten times Brad Perry said DesertFab on air. Was a great appearance with a short interview of my fat arse in the midst of it all.
After everything, the course designer, Rich, asked Todd if it was too easy... to which he replied "Yeah." then Todd took Rich around the course and gave him some pointers to make it more fun and fast, as it was hella bumpy on the dirt section... and we mean BUMPY as in rough, not tough.
We'll see how he takes the suggestions this weekend as the buggy gets out there and competes for the trophy!
Oh... April Warnecke is cool as can be and uber hot. Brad Perry is even more off the wall off camera, as if anyone could imagine that to be possible.

oh, and I'm not too happy with myself in the interview piece. I really needed to say a few things more, but we had to start running to the end of the track to watch them go over the rocks.
And that backup... Todd was headed for a line that would have put him leaning hard to the passenger side, and didn't want to risk that with April in the vehicle.
Afterwards, she said that she had ridden along on the UROC course, but that the rocks today were much more fun.
