Hello Gang, I just got an 83 CJ7 from a friend who was moving back east and I told him I would sell it for him...This isn't a for sale post!! so please don't move me...yet... I am trying to get an idea of what it's worth...from Auto trader you can't get a good idea cuz they are all over the board based on condition and equip, etc...This is just a very clean, original 258 5 speed with a perfect brown soft top and doors (every zipper actually works!)..No body damage, runs great, could use a paint job...Please give me some feed back...
If I get real bored, I may paint it myself,(always wanted to try, and I couldn't really hurt it, famous last words!!):D
Thx

Everything is worth what any one person will pay for it within the time you have to sell it.
Yeah, like that helped a lot.
Call/view jeeps as similar as the one you have, as well as those in the same price range (you are not going likely to get $4000 for a 83 if you can get a fuel injected 95 for about the same price)
3 words: Clean clean clean (presentation sells)
if paint is bad, strip all the trim, pay Earl Scheib (gasp!) $250 to make it look nice (should increase value by at least that much, make easier to sell)
without seeing/hearing/driving impossible to even guess value (have seen/sold everywhere from $500 to $5000)
make arrangement to bring it by and I will show some things to do

I just helped Tony sell his. It was an '82 CJ-7, very clean, straight and bone stock in excellent running condition. It was valued at $3500.
What made that particular Jeep desirable was that it hadn't been cut or modified--it even had the original paint and decals, though the seats and soft top were cr@&. He sold it for less because he was in a hurry (not to mention the first two guys who said they were going to buy it never showed up with money or returned calls).

It's not worth anything. Donate it to your church and let them beat it to hell :)
If you're not in a hurry to sell you can hold out for your price, but there are so many Jeeps to be had you have to price it competitively. In general, I wouldn't expect to get more than $3000-$4000 for it unless it's pristine or it has valued upgrades.
