I was letting go of both of my D35 spare shafts since I just upgraded. $75 takes them both. :)
Where are you located?
EDIT: That could be a killer tubed out Jeep man. :D Why go back to stock, are you planning on selling it after you fix it up?

Surely you're not going to put that back on the road are you ? The frame isn't bent ? I could see making it into a trail rig, letting my s/o drive it, ..........no way.

No, not really.

yes i'm going to put it back on the road, and yes the frame Was bent. and if you don't know what i mean about the i-17, it's just like the i-10 during rush hour, typical arizona idiots staring at every little thing on the side of the road, doing 1-10mph stopping and going....

bought a cadillac seville sts so the jeep project will be on hold this week, attached a couple pics of it somewhat currently (no longer has axle or gas tank installed..bare from the fenders back.) going to cut apart the frame in the middle supports and reshape each rail individually then weld them back together and use flat steel to box the frame in the stressed spots and strangthen it up.

got my new tub yesterday. before i can start finishing the frame and putting the tub on though, i need to take the jeep through level 1 inspection and get the title in my name (it's on a california salvage title right now), anyone in the north valley with a truck/trailer wanna lend a hand? i need to load the jeep and tub (old one) and take it to the dmv (about 1 mile away) for inspection, would only take about 15-20 minutes from the time we left, i'd happily pay for gas, lunch, and lend a hand next time you needed one?

well got the old tub and jeep through level 1 inspection, chopped up the old tub and transfered what was left ont he old tub to the new tub.
if anyone has an airbox (i think thats what you'd call it, the black box under the dash that regulates where your airflow goes), i'd be interested in buying it...don't need the servo's or anything, just the box itself. also looking for a dash (doesn't need any extra's in it, just the dash/metal housing)
heres some pics:

Loading the jeep for inspection:
http://www.users.qwest.net/~al010101/jp1.jpg
i also finished straightening the windshield frame and the little..rollbar extensions (did i mention EVERYTHING on this jeep is bent?), takes a lot of work for each piece, the right extension wasn't bent to bad but the left was bent about 20 degree's, and the windshield frame was really bad...took about 3hrs. but they're installed now.
FatBob you seeing this ??? $540 for a new tub... Hmmm...

i'd say it weighs....300-350lb stripped compeltely except the rollcage as shown on the truck. only got it for 540$ because i called in a favor... they wanted 800$..
Still $800 isn't bad.. The labor would kill someone with out the skills or tools to do the job though..

yeah right now i have :
bought jeep - 600$
bought rear suspension parts - 40$
bought rear driveshaft - 20$
bought center console - 15$
bought tub - 540$
so 1215$ into the project so far. what i have left to buy:
"air box" thats under the dash
dash
doors (soft probably)
passenger seat rails
fuel pump
tranny skid plate (found already)
one wheel (found already)
then i just need to finish the frame repairs, i figure i'll have about...1800$ into it when it's fully done and through inspection. not to bad considering it has a little over 2000 miles (2318 i think?) and is an '01.
Ive got about that much tied into this one.
http://virtualjeepclub.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2324&d=1127544958
It went into the garage 2wd and rolled out 4x4 with apx 8 inches of lift. D30 front and 8.25 sprung over in the rear. Still need to finish some small things but she's pretty much done. I'm building a D60 for the rear and am shopping for a front D60 so I can mount 40inch swampers and MRT beadlocks on it.

on an unrelated not to the jeep, on friday i was cruising home on the i17, when a lady about 5 cars up blew a tire, and went into the center barrier, of course the 4 cars in front of me locked em up (hov lane), so i slowed down... then i look in my rear view.... big yellow ford f150 quad cab long bed was bout 3' from my bumper...before i could say ****...f150 was slamming into me...pushed me sideways and then he went around me and hit another truck...it was interesting, i was doing 35, he was doing 65, i was driving my '00 hyundai accent HB, considering the speed of the hit, my car was barely damaged but i went to 2 body shops just to get an idea (i'm of course taking a check...not getting it repaired..) of what the insurance company might say...they both claimed it was totaled so that could be good or could suck depending on buy-back of it, insurance adjuster is supposed to come tuesday or wednesday.. hoping i can just go to them tomorrow instead and get it done and figured out. oh edit, it's 9:13...the insurance people already called me, they'll be here in 15 minutes...thats speed!! i'll update with what they offer me or do with the hyundai.
edit again..they totaled the car, now i just wait for them to call with thier offering price they'll give me and the buy back price.

isn't that great? body shops were quoting me 2900$...lol!!! i can fix that with a hammer, my porta-power, a new tail light and a couple hours of work. if i don't want to buy it back (i won't pay more than 800$ for it to buy it back..) does anyone else want it? they might want 1000-1200? for it..i dunno yet, if they do, i'll sell it for 100$ more than they want, gets 30-40mpg depending on the situation, has an alarm, 82k miles, good little car, but to me, not worth more than 800$ to buy back.

well it took 4 months but my back is fully healed now from the accident...what a crappy time that was, knowing chiropractors on a first name basis and knowing thier life story, isn't what i had planned.
Anyways i went and picked up a new frame today, didn't feel like messing around with straightening the old one, esspecially when the new one was 350$... so here it is today, i got the rear suspension mounted.
once i get it all back together, i just need to find a dash, airbox, doors (think i found those), and a fuel pump and it'll be ready to go..
al010101
05-04-2006, 03:15 PM
well here it is today, i'm doing this on my own...and moving that engine from the old frame to the new one in the dirt just about killed me, so i'm taking the rest of the day off heh.

been awhile since i updated... here it is a couple months ago:
http://www.users.uswest.net/~al010101/jeep121.jpg
today i finished the air box (had to use a non a/c airbox so..had to modify it a bit), and put that in, and put the dash in, and seats, the interior is almost complete, hooked up the battery and nothing lit on fire! i was happy!
so now i just need:
RR backing plate and wheel cylinder
fuel pump
windshield
doors
passenger seat belt
She's come a long way....if you're thinking "damn you're slow"....this isn't something i work on every day, more like 2 or 3 times a month.

well i'm 6'2" 160lb...and i did everything myself so it was kind of a *****, but overall other than the weight, it's pretty easy... just go slow and be sure you disconnected everything...
oh and i had to remove the badly damaged tub...along with everything else, and put the good stuff on a new frame..after i got the suspension in place and fixed, so we'd be doing 2 very diff. things, if you're just swapping...it's pretty easy, easily done in a weekend, or a day if you have some trusted friends and the enthusiasm.

holy crap an update! well since i last posted.... i bought a house, moved, etc... so nothing has been done to the jeep. all that is left is i need a: fuel pump, dana 35 rear, windshield, doors and tighten a few bolts! and paint of course. but she's come a long ways.

I buddy has a D-35 that he is trying to sell its off of a 1990XJ LSD
ob1jeeper
01-09-2007, 07:35 PM
Just curious... Why would you need another D35, if you got two vehicles already on wheels... Won't one of the two you have work?
PS: The plastic car an '80, or a '79 Silver Anniversary?:)
al010101
01-10-2007, 12:24 AM
well my girlfriend wouldn't let me sell it, so it sat for 5 months while i went to physical therapy and chiropractors...i haven't put much time in to it since then really, mainly because i've needed these few parts for awhile, but no i will not be selling it. the burn't 04 you see, i will probably sell once it's done, but that will be decided once i see if i like driving the 01 (since that will be the womans DD)
i need another d-35 because when i was working on the rear, i drained the fluid, then when i was towing the jeep to my new house on the dolly, i forgot i drained the fluid, and the pinion locked up....my own stupidity. but regardless i need a new one. i have no interest in parting out my '04 to the '01 because then, i'll still be in need of a rearend, and i'll have to put out 2x the work?
the "plastic" car is fiberglass, and it's an 81

look an update! here it is today in it's dusty glory, all i need is the right headlight bulb, and chrome ring, and an o2 sensor and i think it's ready to go through inspection! it's been a VERY long road fixing this thing, much much more than i was expecting.

al010101
05-01-2007, 01:23 PM
once it's inspected....well i just bought a lifted quad cab short bed turbo diesel and a boat so money is tight, and the boat needs a new motor...so, the jeep will probably just be a daily driver for awhile, then built up later on once we get some debt's cleared..
and yeah, nothing like a frame-off on a 5.5yr old vehicle...! lol

heres resurrecting an OLD thread but, i took it through level 3 inspection today finally!! some odd things happened....due to the fact that i used a 97 frame, 99 tub, 99 doors, and the 01 front clip, rear door, windshield frame, motor/trans, axles, dash, interior. but since the tub itself was a 99, and my title was for the salvage '01, they assigned it an AZ vin #, called it a 1999, and gave it a clear title!!! i wasn't going to argue. so keep an eye out for the green tub/black everything else, with a tan hard top tj out there...

now i need to find a lift and some new wheels/tires. thinking a 4" suspension lift and 3" body lift... needs to sit more in line with my f350.

p.s. how is a salvage titled vehicle a pos? you should put your ignorance aside for a bit and learn a thing or 2 about the subject prior to running your mouth. i have 5 salvage vehicles....all are great drivers, and i paid about 20% of what you would for the same thing with a clear title.

10-13-2007, 03:17 PM
yeah it certainly took a long time, i estimate having about 200hrs into it, but i did everything alone.... takes a bit of excess time when you have to put a front clip, or tub, or drivetrain in by yourself :-/ plus i was in a car accident and that stopped all work on it for quite awhile. it was more of a "once a month" projects.....but it's finally done.
now i just need to tear it apart for the body/suspension lift (decided on a 4" suspension, 2" body), replace the tranny mount, should do it.
paint prices eh? haha... well i got my top quality paint from Walmart, 6 cans of black, 6 cans of primer....and 2 things of clean-remove tape....just under 20 bucks! it doesn't look great, but it looks decent....i've seen worse come out of maako...
