Does anybody have a exploded view of this tranny? Does anybody know where the vent tube is?

Thanks,
Rusty

To the best of my knowlege (I have a 999 in my CJ7), there is no vent tube: because the dipstick/fill tube does not have an airtight seal at the top, it would stand to reason that it would also exhaust excess air pressure from the transmission.

whoa, ground hog day.... I saw this post come up earlier and responded to it.... must have disappeared.

The vent is behind the torque converter. There are some sites that should have pictures of it, because there is a mod you can do to move it to the top of the tranny. If I find the sites I will post them, if the thread doesn't disappear again....

Thats what I thought, because the fill/dip stick tube has a hole at the top as a vent and I read about the one behind the TC. Has anybody changed the rear seal in this tranny?

Thanks,
Rusty

It is easy to replace, after you get the t-case out of the way...

MINE LEAKING TOO  Same place, pretty minor for now, just annoying !

Let me know how you do on yours, if you do it yourself or have a shop fix it ?

I'm curious how much a shop charges for this ??? if its not too much, I'll just let them do mine. (feeling kinda lazy lately)

Mines leaking like a stuck hog. I am going to do mine, the seal is only $9.00 from the dealer. I am just going to pull the TC.

Let you know how it goes.

it is a single lip seal, one in trans. and one in t-case. t-case seal dosen't leak very often. the trans has more pressure behind itso it leaks badly when it goes bad.

Fireman did you get your seal fixed yet ?

Also anyone who has the ability and facilities to replace this seal,
please shoot me a PM with a labor price

I might as well get it done BEFORE it gets worse, Since I doubt it is going to fix itself ;)
