out of line, it leads to premature belt wear, or even the belt throwing
itself off if the difference is more than 1/4". The relationship of the

The "mud-soup" on the road to the river was fun, although I

> We ended up with only 5 jeeps; 2 XJ's, 2 YJ's, and the Barneymobile.
Things went real smooth until Tim taco'ed his tie rod trying to scale a
steep rock face. We managed to back him down and replaced the bent rod while
the kids had lunch and played. The bent tie rod was eventually donated to
the Highway to Hell entrance marker.
> Tim and I ventured a ways up the Highway to Hell trail (if you can call
it a trail). We made it to the first major set of obstacles where we admired
all the scrape marks, paint and misc. fluid stains on the rocks. I hear it
only gets worse after that! On the way out, I managed to come down real hard
on my new set of rock sliderz. Hard enough to make our teeth chatter, and
hard enough to bend em' a bit. They most certainly did their job by saving
my rocker panels. We weren't so lucky with the left rear quarter panel of
the XJ, as Vanda decided we needed "his and hers" matching body damage to go
along with the right rear panel. She should be proud!
> I also wanted to comment on the last few photos of this album, which was
one of the last obstacles of the trail. Take a look at the size of the hole
Tim is in! That hole was big enough to swallow him whole, yet he managed to
drive out of it under his own power, with only a little love tap on his
drivers door. Amazing. The TJ is one awesome trail rig. For those of you who
might think the hardcore stuff can only be ran with 35's and lockers, Tim is
running 31's and open diffs! Check it out.

I've been doing some research, and have read a few writeups on people
combining a 1" body lift w/ a 1" motor mount lift in order to raise
the stock transfer case skid plate on a TJ back up to its original
location after a suspension lift. Obvoiusly cheaper than doing a
SYE/driveshaft (but you wouldn't get the strength etc), but I'm not
sure if it will do the job safely and or without damage to the
drivetrain.

As a member of Arizona Virtual Jeep Club and as an American citizen I
urge you to re-look and the land closers made by the previous

consideration. The closures of public land should not be something
that one person should be able to make. This land belongs to you and
me. To not allow me to enjoy this land is reminds me of why this
country was founded to begin with, no taxation without
representation. We the American public were not asked if this was
what we wanted, it was just done. In these days of a society that,
does not spend enough time with our children, I hope and pray that
you take this mater under advisement so we, the American people can

Just a short note to let everyone know that we had a great time
on the Box Canyon/Coke ovens run yesterday. Ray B., thanks again
for leading.
I'm really not good with names, but a couple of things really
stood out on this run. The yellow CJ5 with the tempermental
carberator really added some exitement to the stair steps on the way
to the Coke ovens (It really looked like you were going over a couple
of times as you tried to get past it).
We had a couple of stock TJ's with us and they both did well.
Mike, the retired Marine in the Gunmetal TJ stocker with the small
tires, you did a great job driving, hope you didn't beat up the
undercarriage too badly, and I look forward to meeting up again
sometime.
The "mud-soup" on the road to the river was fun, although I
would have preferred not to stop in the middle of it :-}.
The only regret I have from this trip is that going through the
canyon, I got caught up in how beautiful the canyon was and forgot to
take any pictures, so I guess I will just have to do the canyon run
at least once more :-}.
Lon (and Kathy)
p.s. Thanks, Jon, for setting up all the runs (and thanks for the
good deal on the tires/wheels, they performed great!!!)

Cherokee's? Usually I arrange the pictures, go wheelin' come back and
rearrange them...
I hope this helps, just joking....

Have any of you with TJ's every had a problem with the Catalytic
convertors? I have seen some post, other places, about the baffles
going out (vibrating). I am getting this wierd vibration on hard
accelerations, it sounds like the muffler is loose. I have checked
around the exhaust system and everything seems to be tight.
I guess the main concern with taking it to the dealer is two fold,
one, I don't have the time too be without it and two, I have a 2-1/2"
Cat back system on it.
Any input would be appreciated.

such a blast! Lots of water to make things interesting, and it was a
beautiful day too!

I have a steel garvin wilderness rack for sale off of y 88XJ.
It is the 4" tall 5' long rack with flooring.
It has 4 clamp on light mounts in the front, 2 bolt on light mounts in the rear, spare tire mount, hi-lift jack mount, rain gutter mounts for XJ.
My XJ was stolen, totalled and stripped, but they left the roof rack.
This thing is crazy and invinsable! I paid about $700 for the rack and all of the accessories...i would like to recoup some of that money.
I also have 4 hella 500 lights on the front and 2 hella rrectangle lights in the rear that i can sell with or without the rack.

That is exactly what I did. It stopped the vibration and allowed me to take out those spacers in the t-case skid plate. Now that I have an SYE what little vibration that was left is completely gone.

I've been doing some research, and have read a few writeups on people
combining a 1" body lift w/ a 1" motor mount lift in order to raise
the stock transfer case skid plate on a TJ back up to its original
location after a suspension lift. Obvoiusly cheaper than doing a
SYE/driveshaft (but you wouldn't get the strength etc), but I'm not
sure if it will do the job safely and or without damage to the
drivetrain.
Has anyone done this?

I took advantage of a break this AM to email the president
(president@w...) the following is an excerpt from that
email:

.
As a member of Arizona Virtual Jeep Club and as an American citizen I
urge you to re-look and the land closers made by the previous
administration. These are truly a travesty and deserve some
consideration. The closures of public land should not be something
that one person should be able to make. This land belongs to you and
me. To not allow me to enjoy this land is reminds me of why this
country was founded to begin with, no taxation without
representation. We the American public were not asked if this was
what we wanted, it was just done. In these days of a society that,
does not spend enough time with our children, I hope and pray that
you take this mater under advisement so we, the American people can
spend more time with are children in the great outdoors which God has
given us.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,

I hope that many of you have already sent a letter similar and if not
