The wife and I have just started shopping for a travel trailer to tow behind the Titan. The couple of places that we've stopped to look have recommended trailers in the 23 ft size. What kind of trailers do you guys tow and where do you recommend shopping??? I'm new to this and am still undecided between a travel trailer and a pop-up camper. Which would you guys recommend for a newbie?

My wife and I bought a pop up about 7 years ago. We really enjoy it, we take it all over. We have had up to Canada and Wash state a few times. We used to tow it with an Astro, now we use the Tahoe. We also pull it with the Dakota.
It is a fairly large one, so I don't pull it with the jeep (yet!:D )
We just returned from a weekend in Oak creek.

Anyway, I like the fact that I can see over it when I tow. (I'm partially blind in one eye, so periphial vision is affeted.) It tows real easy too. We can set it up in 15 min and teardown in about 20. Our doesnt have a bathroom, but some of the newer ones do.

On the minus side, the canvas can let out the heat real quick on a winter nite. We run the heater off of battery in the boon docks, and it can kill a battery in one nite if it really cold.
Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll love it.

OK, quick question about the battery thing. The guy we talked to was telling me that if I camped out in the boonies I would need to buy a $2500.00 generator. I was thinking that you could just turn on the truck and re-charge the battery the next day if the battery had died??? Am I thinking about this the right way or not? I'm not too worried about a bathroom either since I'm not too into the thought of cleaning out the black water tank =(

I like Casita travel trailers. We had one a few years ago and wished we still had it. You buy direct from the factory. The following link seems to be the best place to find a used one. They seem to hold their value.

I've actually seen one of those before. I liked it but it was just a little too small. I'm 6'5" and had to hunch over to walk around the inside

Dont most of the furnaces run off of propane? The camper I used to have did, and a dual 20# tank setup would last for days firing the furnace, stove and refridgerator

Yes, the heater works on propane but the heater ignition and blower fan are electric.

As far as the generatorn issue. It is very nice to have it. Yes, you can just hook up your vehicle, but that is a much bigger waste of gas and when the vehicle is running, the exhaust is pointed right back toward the camper filling it with exhaust. We have a Honda generator that we use with our Popup and it works real well, is very small, is very quiet, and uses little gas.

Whats the model of your generator? I need one that is as quite as possible.
Thanks

I got the Honda EU1000. For our popup, it is plenty. Another nice thing about having a generator in the boonies is that if you have something you need to use that only works on 110 (like a microwave), it can be used when the generator is running.

I don't use a generator at all. I have access to multiple batteries, so I take 2 with me (only if I know it is going to be really cold, like 40, you know.;) ) I hook them in parallel, same volts, more amps. One battery is good for multiple days if you don't run the heater.
When I need to charge them, I just put jumper cables from the Tow vehicle to the batteries, let it run for 30 min or so. You can charge the battery through the trailer connector but 1) it would be slow and 2) the end bunk will be in the way unless you have a loooong trailer pigtail.

That's good info. It's what I was hoping to do cause I don't really want to drop $2500.00 on a generator after dropping all that money on a trailer in the first place.

There's a Coleman 5000 generator listed on the VJC classified's for $400. 120v/220v.His name is Eric 480-593-4487.
