Last week I purchased a burger and fries at McDonalds for $3.58.

The counter girl took my $4.00 and I pulled 8 cents
from my pocket and gave it to her. She stood there,
holding the nickel and 3 pennies. While looking at the
screen on her register, I sensed her discomfort and
tried to tell her to just give me two quarters, but
she hailed the manager for help. While he tried to
explain the transaction to her, she stood there and
cried.

Why do I tell you this?

Because of the evolution in teaching math since the
1950s:

A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is
selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the
habitat of animals or the preservation of our
woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of
$20. What do you think of this way of making a living?
Topic for class participation after answering the
question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the
logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong
answers.)

La cuesta de tortillas es 16 centavos por la libra. Con 20 dólares gana, el ranchero puede comprar mas o menos 125 libras de tortillas, o mas o menos 1250 tortillas de medio tamaño que son acerca de 10 piezas por la libra.

I studied Math and Spanish in school... :)

Folks, this is a joke I got on email at the office. I in no way take any credit for the creation of the content. I was just passing it on. So please take what you want from it, but there is no need for the McDonald's comments or to bag on the state of Arizona educational situation. This is meant to be a knock on education as a whole in the country and probably also a knock on the different generations.

And 0IIII0, instead of telling us what is so wrong with the city/state/country why don't you give us a little background on what you do/are doing to make it all better?
