So I am thinking about how much time it will take to fill my pool. I left all my books and my calculator at work.
If:
The pipe that goes to that back yard is 1/2" diameter
The average water pressure is 75psi
and the pool is 17,000 gallons
How much time will it take to fill the pool?

Okay, so I took a 5 gallon bucket and measured the time it took to fill it. It took 30 seconds. That being said, it should take 28 hours 20 minutes to fill the pool, all things being equal and assuming 17,000 gallons. That is a long time.

How much in water costs?
Will the local FD do it cheaper? Does the FD do it out here at all?

How much in water costs?
look at a water bill, it is almost free.
last month I used 280gal/day. water base fee 5.16, water charge 1.62.
The rest of my $46 dollar bill is junk charges and fees.

My water is included in my rent so no bill... I think it's 10 a month.

you should not be paying anything for water. property owner is responsible for that.

Not necessarily. Landlords may charge for utilities if they install a separate metering system or "allocat[e] the charges separately through a ratio utility billing system." Ariz. Rev. Stat. § 33-1314.01(A) (http://www.azleg.state.az.us/FormatDocument.asp?inDoc=/ars/33/01314-01.htm&Title=33&DocType=ARS). They also have to put this provision in the lease and follow a few other rules.

I have heard about people that are on wells having to use services to fill their pools. This I believe is mainly because of using a large quantity of the avaible water at any given time.
I think it should be $30.
If you consider fuel cost right now, a fire department couldn't even fire up their rig and drive it to and from my house for that much. Although a FD probably could fill it faster.

The fd. in mesa said they don t fill them.
If some one next to you has a fire they will
pump it out of your pool and refill it when
they get done.

Looks like that's the answer then. Set the neighboors house on fire and tell the FD to fill you pool while they are putting out the fire:D
