I had originally planned on replacing my tired inline 6 with a crate V8 and a rebuilt auto tranny and regular carberator. I had planned this due to the supposed high cost of getting a motor and tranny with computer and wiring harness from a donor vehicle with fuel injection or Throttle Body injection. I have since found that there are vehicles out there to be had in relative good shape, motor wise and was wondering if there are any potential problems with a motor and tranny from a non 4x4 donor vehicle. Also, anyone know of a place to store a vehicle while I salvage the parts out of it. Don't have the room at my place. Any advice would be appreciated. This will be a 350 conversion if that makes any difference.

Whatever way you choose to go, I would definately go with fuel injection if you are planning to wheel it. Carbs do not like to be sideways.
Ray,
will this vehicle be street legal?? If so you will need to run the same year of engine or newer to make it through emissions. A simpler solution would be to run the Holley projection kit. It has a self supporting computer and allot less wiring than a typical fuel injected motor. I've also experienced several friends running this system, adjust it well enough to fly through emissions with no (yes you read that right) no cats.. They are very programmable... As for storing a vehicle that you are dismanteling, your looking at big bucks in a storage facility.. I paid 120 a month to store my XJ when I lived in an apartment.. due to non registration.. (it was trail only)
good luck

Ok, thanks for the info on the projection kit. How about if you take a projection kit engine and mate it with a tranny out of a computerized vehicle? Any problems with that
