After looking at a posted trip to FR42 that is on the old site. I called The CaveCreek Tonto forest office and yes they lady confirmed that FR42 and the surrounding roads have been reopened. I just went there Saturday night and it was closed still. They must have opened it yesterday or today. It should be roughed up, washed out and a whole lot of fun. Just FYI :D

I called the Cave Creek office just a few weeks ago and they told me the area north of Bartlett Dam Road was closed for "rehab". I find it hard to believe that a few weeks is enough time for that rehab to occur. But, I hope you are right and it really is open.

I was just up there Saturday and it was closed. When i read the trip post he said he "heard" it was open. So i called the Cavcreek office to check becuase i couldn't believe it either. I have been waiting awhile for it to open.
I only work about 20 minutes from there, i am going to the trail head to check after work. It still reads as closed on their site. Anyone else want to call and confirm? 480.595.3300. I'll post up what i find when i drive out there tonight. Cya

So i drove there after work and.... The road is still blocked off. Horse Shoe road is closed off FR532 is and FR42 still is. That is exactly why i called to make sure. I was told by a lady at the Cavecreek office it was open and it is not open. Sorry for the bad info.

Travis, when it opens we should run out there and maybe camp at Bartlet. It would be a good time.

That would be great. Could get a fishing pole in the water too. If they would only open it. I am gonna call in the morning and ask why she told me it was open. I use to hit that road all the time. Even in the week cause it is so close.
I'll just keep driving out there now n then to see for myself i guess.

I just called the Cave Creek office. They said they had a student working the phone and that student didn't know a lot of details - thus the wrong info. They also said FR42 is still closed as is all of the burn area north of Bartlett Dam Road.
But they also said to keep watching the Tonto FS website as a new order is in the process of being signed. No details of the order were offered, however.
